I would say in this case the December thing doesn't apply. This is clearly a May release pushed into December to pretty much stand alone.

I don't think (as much as I love them) the Hobbit movies were as eagerly anticipated, and as far as Avatar, if I remember correctly, it didn't come out of the gate either as being the movie to see. I feel like it gained steam after people saw it from word of mouth and the incredible 3D Cameron did. Heck, I even think that some were mistaking it as another "Airbender" movie and that hurt ticket sales.

And both of those were 2hr 40 mins and longer, another stalwart to making money.

I think the true test will be when the numbers are released about online sales and if it set any records. But from the Gifs and jokes on Facebook about Jurassic world being #1 for the yr until... I actually believe it.

People are dying to wipe that foul taste known as the Prequel trilogy from their mouths, and initial indications are Abrams has gotten the feel / spirit right.

It's irrelevant. People are traveling around Christmas, visiting friends and family, and generally preoccupied with things other than movies. That is why December releases have longer legs and not big opening weekends.

Stop projecting your personal opinions on the general populace. That never ends well.

Okay, after watching the trailer a gazillion times, I decided to do some investigating...

[Show spoiler]I have for a long time thought that Han dies in this movie, and i initially, seeing Rey crying over what seems to be a body only reinforced my thoughts.

However, after looking at it, it isn't Han on she is crying over it. I believe it to be Finn.

I believe you see the cuffs of the jacket, and it looks like the one Finn wears:

A few thoughts after watching the trailer several times since yesterday. First, the new trailer was kinda underwhelming compared to the last one, that brought me to tears... but that was because seeing Han and Chewie back for the first time. The more I watched the trailer the more I liked it. However, it is not mindblowing. They're clearly still teasing us and not giving much away, saving what I hoping is the best for the movie.

About the movie itself... I'm loving the Luke mystery. Can't wait to find out what the hell is going on.

I don't really like though the Jedi/Force thing becoming a mith no one believes it exists. I mean, it makes sense story wise, but it has been used before in Episode IV. Definitely curious as to what the heck happened to go back to that point.

Kylo Ren has a great voice, but him as a character and villain still says nothing to me, he just looks like a 'meh' villain, way less cooler than Maul, Dooku or Grievous for example. BUT, I know nothing about him. Hopefully in the movie he'll have a great story that will make me like the character.

I'm wondering if Poe will be a secondary character. For the looks of it, the main characters will be Rey and Finn, while I thought it would be more of a leading trio thing in this movie. We'll see.

I'm really excited about a new Star Wars movie coming out, but from what I've seen so far, it doesn't seem that it will be THAT great as so many people are saying and hyping over it. Sure as hell hope to be proven wrong by the movie.

What I sure don't want from the movie is another final battle to destroy the super weapon. If they do that again, it won't be really original...

Yeah, but none of them are Star Wars

This movie will break all kinds of records in my opinion. It would break them even it was released in the middle of the apocalypse

he's not the only person that feels that way about the Prequel Trilogy.

and Abrams trailers certainly feel more like a Star Wars movie than either of Episodes 1 or 2 did in their entirety.

I wake up this morning to get a message from one of my bros saying he bought $100 worth of movie tickets, (for him and five others) to go Thursday night. I then asked if he got a ticket for me and he said "sorry, didn't know you wanted to see this." I was so mad

I had to laugh at the clip of Kylo Ren trying to extract information from Poe.

this is NOT me bashing the film, but I wasn't overwhelmed by the trailer. it was rather UNDERwhelming... still, I will see this with my robes and saber intact on opening weekend for sure.

Of course they did - JJ took everything people liked about the original trilogy and threw it into this film. It should feel like the original movie - it is a rehash of the original film. Doesn't mean it is going to be good though. The more I see, the more it looks like a big budget fan film and not a real addition to the Star Wars universe.

I tried not to laugh either...but I kept hearing Kylo saying, "And this is called a Force Wedge."

And then the camera pans to Poe. "Nooooooooo!"

Perhaps they were both slashed from Kylo Ren's attack. Only one survives?

No, only Titanic, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter (Thanksgiving, but close enough), James Bond, The Hobbit, Avatar, Mission: Impossible, Narnia, etc. etc.

They don't feel like Star Wars to me. More like a fan film with a big budget.

Hey, let me try one. If John Boyega's Finn gets to pilot a ship in battle at some point, he can....
