Uh, no, you clearly DON'T know the difference. Someone with the opposite opinion could equally say that your opinion is laughable. If he had never even made Star Wars he'd have an impressive filmography with just THX-1138, American Graffiti and his student films.

What Lucas did to THX-1138 is more of a crime than what he did to Star Wars. So glad he isn't involved in making the future films. Hopefully JJ Abrams can break his streak of mediocrity long enough to give us a good Star Wars film until the actual talented directors get a shot.

I DO. This is just called being an ******* and disregarding other's opinions on a specific topic like Lucas' directing skills.

I realize it's all a matter of opinion, I just don't care on a few topics like this one.

I agree, but it's still a great film. One of my favorites.

And like I said, the thing that kills me about it is that Lucas himself was the one who gave permission for people to create new official SW content without his direct involvement.

It's unfortunate that, while there's a lot of demand for the theatrical cuts of the Star Wars films, hardly any noise is made about THX. I know it's not surprising since it's not nearly as popular a film, but still.

So I downloaded the new trailer this morning before going to work and had to watch it on my iPod during break. All I can say is…

BRING IT ON! And already I can see the hate has started. This is freaking sad. I am unashamed of my love for the Star Wars films and that includes the PT that everyone loves to hate. If this means that I am not a "true fan" then so be it and haters can just his my A**. IT'S STAR WARS PEOPLE! It's supposed to be fun. There comes a point when you start to take this stuff way too seriously. It's not a true story or anything of such significance in the grand cosmic scheme to start belittling everyone around you just because they think the Prequels are fine. Seriously, go get laid or something.

I said the prequels aren't perfect, and yes, it bothered me that some bits don't match well (who trained Obi Wan? Qui-Gon or Yoda? , etc, etc)

I am not trashing TFA, and I've never mentioned anything whatsoever about Lucas, I'm just stating my honest opinion and disappointment that people take some much sh!t on the prequels constantly, while I grew up on them just like you did on the OT and they mean as much to me.

''The PT gets hate, because they were not as good as they should have been'' The problem is that , for most people, they wanted the PT to be a sequel, or to have Han and Leia, they basically wanted a sequel trilogy like the one we're getting now, not a prequel.

The first SW movie I watched was Episode I when I was 5. It hooked me for life just like it did with you with the OT. And I love both trilogies. They are what they are and every movie has something in it that it's amazing and I love. I'm tired of the ''UOT without the PT is the TRUE and only Star Wars'' fans
I was 4 when I saw TPM in theaters, lol.

*yawn*

On the spur of the moment, I decided to buy another ticket for 9:30 PM on December 17.

I've always been one to rip the Band-Aid off quickly, I guess.

haha, oh well, maybe you just know more about films and can't help to see the PT flaws. Idk, I just know they're not perfect but I enjoy them a lot and love their mythology.

Skeptical about TFA, but hoping real hard it's an amazing movie. One of the things I like the most is seeing the Millennium Falcon, TIE fighters and other OT ships in action sequences made with today's technology. That totally kicks ass.

A couple of stories about last night:

Quote:
Fandango had a record-setting first day of pre-sales, selling eight times as many tickets as it did on the first day of sales for the previous record holder. The first Hunger Games previously held the record for the ticket-selling site.
And...

Quote:
Football is no match for the Force.
More people watched the newest trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in its debut during halftime of ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” than the actual game, according to TiVo data provided exclusively to The Post.
The roughly two-and-half-minute clip of the most-hyped release in movie history had a commercial retention rate of 130, meaning that its rating was 30 percent higher than the match-up between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles.
To put it in perspective, a typical TV spot during the Super Bowl — when a lot of viewers tune in just to watch the ads — has a commercial retention rating of 100.
The average commercial rating during last season’s Monday Night football was 91, according to TiVo, which surveyed around 20,000 set-top-box users to come up with its numbers.

Got my ticket!

For Thursday the 17th at 7pm, the first available showing!

Not that I'm complaining, but doesn't the movie come out on the 18th?

I tried to buy my ticket last night on Fandango, but the site kept going down before I could complete my order. I ordered my ticket this morning via movietickets.com.

Today I noticed that I have two pending authorizations on my credit card from Fandango. I never received any confirmation that my orders went through so hopefully I am not going to be charged.

Yeah, but every movie pretty much advertises a Friday release date and begins screening Thursday night. It used to be that they'd technically open Friday with midnight showings, but theaters don't do those anymore.

I wish there was a simple answer for this. Yes, Abrams did shoot a portion of the film
[Show spoiler] (a single chase scene in the Millenium Falcon on Jakku)
with IMAX cameras. Though I'm sure a large portion of that scene will be composed entirely of digital assets (though we know on location backround plate shots were also filmed using IMAX cameras).

The aspect ratio presented in theaters will differ across the different theatrical formats. True 70mm film projected IMAX theaters will most likely have the 1.43:1 during those scenes shot with IMAX cameras and film. All other scenes will probably be in 2.40:1.

The IMAX digital theaters will most likely be in a wider aspect ratio than the film-based theaters (around 1.90:1) during the IMAX filmed scenes, and 2.40:1 during the rest. I don't know what the mix of 2D vs. 3D IMAX screenings will be, but I'm guessing all digital IMAX screens will be in 3D, and 70mm film screens will be 2D (especially dome-shaped theaters).

I think the mods are going to have to go back to checking everyone's Troll license or permit number.

This is not the Phantom Menace and it is not a New Hope. It's the start of a new trilogy so the ones who keep comparing The Force Awakens to past Star Wars films can step off and keep on stepping. Oh...I know. Start a Star Wars Bashing thread and leave this one.

We cannot control studio execs so why try. If this and if that....you will go cross-eyed before movie studios listen to the fans.

I am happy that they are willing to make more Star Wars films.
