Got a new theory about Luke: I predict
[Show spoiler]he'll show up in the end battle and lift a whole mountain with the Force to destroy the Starkiller base
.

Should be epic.

These things can be fun, like the EU, but Return of the Jedi is the perfect ending for the real story, at least on-screen.

Well, unless every human character in the Star Wars universe now has a robotic hand, I think we can safely assume this is Luke.

Worst case scenario would be some kind of Anakin flashback, but Anakin never wore white robes.

It's the same robot hand as the official picture of Luke that was released.

I agree, and that's my biggest misgiving about this movie. RotJ had that "they all live happily ever after" ending, and being a kid who saw it the summer before going on to junior high school, it stuck with me as a closing to that part of my life. Terribly nostalgic and sappy, I know, but continuing after a story that had such a tightly-closed resolution seems wrong in a way.

But I will see this regardless.

Maybe it was C-3PO wearing a hood? He was reaching out to his buddy R2? Could be possible?

Except it has massively unresolved plot points such as "what happened with the rest of the empire" "who's in charge now" "did Luke restore the Jedi order, or create something new" "Is Vader remember as a hero, or a villain" etc. George muddled that all up with the ridiculous "party scenes" of the special editions.

No way a GALACTIC EMPIRE would just give up because the old dude died, and so did his evil bulldog. If anything, it gave other leaders in the empire the chance to take power for themselves. Not to mention, the rebellion sustained HEAVY loses on Endor. There wasn't nearly enough of them to take over the reigns of structuring an empire.

The only problem with the Sequel Trilogy so far is that, frankly, it should have been made in the 90's. Maybe even late 80's. This new trilogy should be 10-12.

[edit] To actually answer your question I did post this after I'd seen the trailer, and it's not concerned with dupes or 15/70 or not trying to troll in the slightest: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...7#post11412787. But, as you can probably tell, I'm also fascinated with the nuts and bolts of both moviemaking and movie presentation. I don't understand why so many people can't possibly imagine that the two - a love of movies and a love of tech stuff - can't go hand in hand, like both can't be processed at the same time, but then I'm one of those smart guys who can watch a subtitled movie without complaining that he's 'reading' it rather than watching it.
I wasn't trying to just pick on you, I just found you first. And I was honestly just asking a question. Thank you for taking it as such. I love subtitled movies. But the nuts and bolts, are I guess, a little beyond me.

Some people find it hard to enjoy something when they know and understand the techical side involved. In my ignorance I equate it to watching a magic show if you know how all the tricks are done.

If I'm watching a 3D presentation, what am I watching? Is there a way to know how to get the best theater experience?

Its certainly implied that it is. However, it also implies that Flynn is force sensitive (just discovered that phrase lol), but that could be misdirection...

I really don't see that. Finn is obviously force sensitive and a potential Jedi. He's just not the MAIN Jedi. Rey is. This is her story.

If it turns out NOT to be Luke, I will personally buy a copy of The Force Awakens on Blu for the first person that quotes this post and says "I told you so."

Its obvious the Empire never really went away. The Empire was more than Coruscant. It spanned the galaxy. I forget which book it is but in one SW book I have it says that roughly 1/3 of the systems still remained loyal to the Empire and it still had a sizeable force. But was divided by waring Admirals who wanted to seize control.

About half to slightly more of the remaining systems joined the New Republic, while the rest remained independent.

I can understand why the story of the Jedi and the Empire might be a legend 35 years later. Perhaps on "outer rim systems" the peoples only heard the stories of what happened. And future generations could only wonder how much was true or was it just a story. Like the legends of King Arthur and Robin Hood? Did they really exist? Or are they just stories? Only the people of those time periods know.

Im ready for this movie. I liked the trailer very much. Will it be better than the original? Probably not. Better than 1-3? Surely.

Yes... trailer seems like things got really bad. The parades ended very quickly. Did something much worse take over? Only a handful of rebels would of known about Luke and they are probably all dead. It appears are heroes have all had to go into hiding for the last 30 years. There was no happy ending like we thought.

The crossover stuff started sooner than I thought it would. There's no Tron sequel supposedly. But i'd bet there's plenty of room for Star Wars Vs. Tron.

It can't be any worse than Alien Vs Predator right?

We know the Empire/Republic and Jedi/Sith conflict will always come and go, the saga will never end then. A specific point of the story need to be chosen to give the proper ending. A closure to the Skywalker family with their influence on the galaxy is the most worthy resolution for the saga, emotionally we need to have something more personal. That is why Episode VI as a closure is perfectly fine. Not that I don't want Episode VII, but we cannot talk about ending the saga with the political turmoil point of view. I hope Episode VII to IX will continue to tell the personal story of the Skywalker family with everything else in the background.

A new series, starting with another Episode I with a new focus on a different family maybe can be a way to continue on with the same political fight in the background. The current series can later be known as the The Skywalker Saga.
