My guess is after the fanfare wore off then there might have been a power vacuum of sorts going on with no one really being in charge. Perhaps forming a new government would have thrown everything into chaos. The senate had been disbanded while the emperor was running things.

We know the Empire/Republic and Jedi/Sith conflict will always come and go, the saga will never end then. A specific point of the story need to be chosen to give the proper ending. A closure to the Skywalker family with their influence on the galaxy is the most worthy resolution for the saga, emotionally we need to have something more personal. That is why Episode VI as a closure is perfectly fine. Not that I don't want Episode VII, but we cannot talk about ending the saga with the political turmoil point of view. I hope Episode VII to IX will continue to tell the personal story of the Skywalker family with everything else in the background.

A new series, starting with another Episode I with a new focus on a different family maybe can can be a way to continue on with the same political fight in the background. The current series can later be known as the The Skywalker Saga.

They already confirmed 10-12, but I just don't know where they'll really go with it. Restoring peace to the Galaxy in a major way is the natural end point, and I don't see them coming up with ANOTHER viable threat after the first order. Peace always comes and goes, but having peace that lasts thousands of years? That's a good ending.

What has that got to do with anything?

Sydow's character was rumored to have a robot hand, and he was rumored to be a collector of relics. Seemed logical to me that if he found R2 as a "relic," he could have reached out and touched it. It could have been clever misdirection on Abram's part.

With Gamma's info, I'm probably wrong about all that.

I am very interested to find out the truth in this matter. In the trailer when Han mentions the Dark Side and the Jedi, he says Jedi just add we get a frontal reveal of Finn.. to me that's like JJ pointing and screaming Jedi! Jedi!

But I do something agree it very much looks like Rey's story, only her story sends to run face first into Finn's. You can have to Martin stories going on at once...

The OT was Luke's story, but it also told a story of a smuggler who joined a rebellion against incredible odds and the story of a princess trying to get the rebellion some more teeth against an impossible foe by enlisting a former Jedi to help. Then there's a love story, a father's redemption story, and the story of a smuggler-turned-business man who became a general and led a space battle...

So while it may be Rey's, it's also very obviously about Finn as well...
