I've never seen it myself but LOVE Star Wars PT&OT! I have been considering blind buying the Clone Wars movie and all 4 available blu-ray seasons. I once believed it to be over and was fine with that, but now I am dying to watch new stories. Anyone on here recommend the blind buy?

Well, in the EU, they cloned the Emperor multiple times. Maybe that's what they're doing with Vader? I'm not really attached at all to the EU stuff, so this doesn't bother me if they bring Vader back. The way I see it, if they have a great idea to bring him back... I say go for it.

I have the clone wars movie and all 4 seasons! I love them I prefer them to the PT movies. the seasons get better as they gon on, and can be quite dark in tone at times. The death count in this show is high, something you wouldnt expect from an animated series.

I wasnt a fan of the 2D cartoons but these are great.

Vader is going to be in the TV show, which is supposed to bridge the gap between Episode III and IV (if that TV show is ever made, and I imagine Vader would be like the baddies in The X-Files, and only show up once or twice a year).

I *highly* doubt Vader will be in the film series. Take all these rumours with a boulder-sized chunk of salt, friends.

To be honest, I was just thinking this the other day, how are they going to make a new Star Wars without bringing Darth Vader back. after all they are already using him in their official promotions and everyone who thinks of Star Wars immediately thinks of Vader. They retconned the ending of Jedi already once, why not do it again?

They altered a shot, they didn't change the ending. Vader was burned to ashes by Luke. If Vader survived that, he's going to need a whole lot of Aloe Vera.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Anakin come back as a Force Ghost at some point, ditto Yoda (though, obviously, not Obi-Wan). Who knows, maybe Luke goes down in Episode VII to save the new warriors, and becomes a Force Ghosty himself...

Bogus. Vader was a tragic figure, nothing like the emperor, or Darth Maul.

They could explore what he was up to between III and IV though, but not after
VI. that would pretty much certainly ruin it for me completely, but I don't believe they would go that route anyways.

+1, I don't buy it, either. It's going to be a long slog through inaccurate rumours like this from now until the script leaks.

Bring Vader back is an awful idea all around IMO. No matter how they do it, on some level it's just going to feel like a combo of cheap fan-service, a cheap cash-in, and a bad fan-fic.

That being said, IF they are truly going in the direction of having Vader return (which, again, I think is a bad idea no matter what), it should NOT be in the form of Anakin being resurrected or cloned in any capacity.

The only way I can see this working at all would be for it to be someone else entirely in a similar suit who takes on Vader's identity. Perhaps they had a similar event happen to them where they need the suit to survive, or perhaps they are fully able bodied, but are just wearing the suit by choice.

Whatever the case, this could have some potential for an interesting story since aside from a select few (Luke, Leia, and their friends), nobody who is still alive at the end of ROTJ really knew Vader's true identity. Everyone simply knew him as Darth Vader. It would be easy for someone to show up wearing a similar suit, saying they are Vader, take over the Empire (or try to bring it back), and for most everyone to believe them. Then it would be up to Luke and those "in the know" to try to uncover the mystery behind this, and there could be some build up to trying to figure out who this really is.

I think much better stories than this that don't involve Vader at all can and should be told instead, but this would still be better IMO than some kind of lame resurrection or cloning plotline.

Anakin's ghost could take over the Vader suit like Johann Krauss fron Hellboy 2.

Not exactly. It depends on what EU Material you're talking about. Because as noted, there's levels of canon.

Obviously a little out of date. But it clearly refrences the "No Resurrections" policy that Lucasfilm has.
Which regardless of Herr Mouse buying Lucasfilm and the franchise is very unlikely to change.
Quote:
TOTAL FILM: "Are you happy for new Star Wars tales to be told after you're gone?"

LUCAS: "I've left pretty explicit instructions for there not to be any more features. There will definitely be no Episodes VII-IX. That's because there isn't any story. I mean, I never thought of anything. And now there have been novels about the events after Episode VI, which isn't at all what I would have done with it. The Star Wars story is really the tragedy of Darth Vader. That is the story. Once Vader dies, he doesn't come back to life, the Emperor doesn't get cloned and Luke doesn't get married..."
He should have included the "Boba Fett doesn't just walk out of the Sarlaac Pit either", but regardless... not gonna happen.

I can totally see some new Sith Lord taking Vader's mantle though. But it won't be Anakin. Not 30+ Years after RotJ.

Well it could be a robot, it could be a clone, it could be Luke turned to the dark side and taking up his fathers mantle, it could be the ghost vader inhabiting a new body. I know it is a rumor, I just think it is fun to speculate, even if it doesn't happen it is still fun to think about.

Or they could pull out a total ***** slap and pretend like the ending of Jedi was all a dream of Lukes, imposed on him by the will of the Emperor and they pick up where the movie left off but from a different ending, like the rebellion really lost the battle of Endor.

Hard to pick up where the movie left off when the cast is 30+ years older.

It can be done. But come to think about it, IF they bring Vader back it must be Luke picking up the mantle and that could be one of the plot points. Maybe he marries Mara Jade, then she pushes him to the Dark Side somehow. Maybe Han is killed and that pushes him over? I don't think it would be a good idea, but I do think the character is too iconic for Disney not to do something with him.

I wouldn't expect Mara Jade to even exist in the film universe. At least according to original plans. Thank goodness.

Its not just that - its the fact that ROTJ has CLOSURE to the story as we know it.

I cant believe Im even reading any ideas about bringing Vader back - whether its a dream, a robot, a clone, I dont care what it is. Dont focking do it or Ill burn Disney down to the ground on a busy Holiday weekend.

The ONLY way to do EP7 correctly is to have Hamil, Ford and Fisher play their respective roles as their older selves. Introduce their children or whatever characters they want to introduce and then have them die off either in EP7 or early in EP8. Then, Jaina and Jaden Solo take over as the main characters. Or something like that. NO Darth Vader. NO!

I am not terribly opposed to the idea of resurrecting Palpatine as he was and remains the best written and most clever character in the SW Universe.

That being said, this news came from a British tabloid. Vader is dead, could Christiansen come back as a Force Ghost, probably.

EDIT**

Should he? ABSOLUTELY NOT.
