For sure.... i mean to Daisy and Boyega; they are just running around sets with some live effects and some green screen. They probably didn't know until seeing that footage if they were going to be the next Jake Lloyd or be responsible for a hated movie.

Now they know they are about to be launched into super stardom and legend status.

Ironically that shows biggest detractors tend to be from a particular political stripe that might think twice about trashing a Marine.

This looks awesome. The added bonus seems to be that there will be good acting involved, unlike the first three movies.

Just bought tickets

Chose Empire 25 in NYC to experience the Dolby Cinema (I had seen Jurassic World, while it was AMC Prime. Sat a little too far back).

Interesting comparison Lincoln Square vs AMC Empire 25 Wedsenday Evening (maybe the bedbug news is keeping people away):

If the 15/70 was at Lincoln Square, I would have waited for it (much less seat selection, compared to Empire 25). But for Digital, it was not worth it to me (I saw Game of Thrones at the Empire 25 IMAX and I hope to never see another Imax movie there).

Interestingly, the preorder is not available for Regal EWalk. I saw Dawn of the Planet of the Apes there, and would consider going back for movies in RPX/Atmos.

I really like the Regal EWalk, the AMC Empire not so much.

I like the Regal on Union Square best though, but they don't have an RPX screen.

Oh yeah, well I've got you beat. I'm not "pretty sure" but I am absolutely certain that Durth Vurder is Luke's daddy. He told him as much in Episode V. We also know from Episode III that pre-Vurder stuck his "thingy" in Queen Amidala's "hoo-hah" and 9ish month's later out popped Luke and Leia.

After watching that 3rd trailer, did anyone else get that feeling of relief that I did? I told my wife after watching the trailer that it seemed like finally the "grown ups" are in charge of this franchise! I don't mean to be disrespectful to Lucas, as I will be eternally grateful to him for giving us this amazing universe! However after the prequels and then seeing this trailer, it's pretty clear to me that Lucas was completely out of his depth sitting in the director's chair for the prequels! Plus having that kiss-ass Rick McCallum as producer didn't help matters either!

It's definitely a turn in the right direction to recapture what made the originals classics, yes.

My current hopes and expectations for Star Wars VII, which I need to subdue:
A sense of adventure and fun, but also balanced with darkness and pain.
At least one epic light saber battle (nothing has topped the Darth Maul vs Obi Wan fight yet however IMO).
Lots of space ship action.
Luke plays a major role and we see him use a green saber.
Yoda and Obi Wan make some kind of cameo in voice or spirit form, even if for a few seconds.
C3PO and R2D2 have some comedic moments with BB8 and Chewy.
Kylo Ren will be a major badass villain like Darth Maul.
Rey and Finn are worth rooting for as they appear in the trailers.
Lots of Rebel vs Stormtrooper battles.
Luke, Han and Leia reunite at some point.
Lando Calrissian makes a cameo appearance.
Captain Phasma kicks some @ss.

What would be cool, but likely won't happen:
Some flashbacks to Darth Vader.
Flashbacks to Yoda and Obi Wan.
Ewan McGregor reprises the role of Obi Wan's older spirit.
Frank Oz plays as the classic Yoda puppet.

.
I don't think any of the stuff I bolded happens.

Regarding Luke...

[Show spoiler] there's a lot of speculation that he actually doesn't appear until near the end. I believe much of this movie's screen time is spent with Rey, Finn, and Han and Chewie actually searching for Luke. My personal feeling is that this movie is VERY Han Solo centric and that Luke won't start playing a more prominent role until Episode 8.

Thanks Steelmaker for the potential heads up about Luke.
It's better I go in with the expectation not hoping Luke will be a major character than to expect it and be disappointed.

It's looking promising, agreed. Episodes I, II and III's Ewan McGregor was a big highlight in terms of convincing acting (along with Liam Neeson, Ian McDiarmond, etc), in comparison to some other major characters who gave less convincing performances for whatever reasons.

"Who is Luke Skywalker?" That was the driving question Kennedy asked Abrams that convinced him to join as director for Star Wars VII. With that in mind, I'm really hoping we get to see his and Kasdan's vision of who Luke becomes after the loss of his father and the Fall of the Empire, with the rise of the First Order.

Will Luke have a major role? While I really hope so, the lack of his appearance in the trailers could be one of three things:
1. If they show Luke, they give away major spoilers.
2. Luke doesn't play a big role so they don't show him.
3. Repeat 1, but also consider we didn't see C3P0 yet in the trailers either, and most of us are expecting he'll make a big appearance with R2D2.

You guys are all acting as if there's only one new Star Wars movie. This is the first film in a trilogy. Luke may not have a massive role in this one, but he will in 8. He's already been seen on set for that one.

If he doesn't show up a lot, it's for story purposes. Trust me. We WILL get our bad ass Luke moments. It may just not be right away.

I just realized Adam Driver is the guy from While We're Young. Going to be very strange seeing him in this. Especially with his mask off.

You know that the TS IMAX isn't real IMAX, right? That's why everyone goes to LS instead of TS.

Plus, you're talking about a week after the movie opened, approx.

The force is strong with the upcoming “Star Wars” sequel.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has established a new record, bypassing “The Hunger Games” to move the most tickets in its first day on sale, Fandango reports. It didn’t just surpass that picture, it shattered its benchmark, outselling “The Hunger Games” eight times over. Traffic to the online ticketer’s site surged to seven times more than its peak level in less than 24 hours.
well damn if thats an indication of things to come

Personally I can't wait to see it. I've got full confidence it's in good hands and I think Disney like with Marvel knows to take a more hands off approach with such a great asset, which ultimately is what will make it pay out.
