I think it's unlikely Jakku's Tatooine. Desert worlds are probably a dime-a-dozen in the SW universe.

Ah, it's no wonder Artoo stuck it in the wrong socket at Cloud City, he didn't wanna be no babydaddy again!

Jakku is not Tatooine. It has its own backstory in the recent novels.

Okay, I take your word for it. Just raised it as a possibility, but that mountain planet is not Hoth.

Man that new trailer looks good!
my spoiler is questioning something BIG I noticed in the trailer. DO not read unless you don't mind a possibly big spoiler
[Show spoiler]Do they really kill Chewy?? It looks like it in that last shot of REY crying.

Some call it a Hoth rip-off but I actually like where they're going with the snow/mountain planet. It's got a bit of a North European (during winter) vibe to it with its snowy forests and mountains and I like that. It's simple yet something unique that we haven't really seen in the previous movies.

You're kidding right? Daisy Ridley shows more emotional range at the 1:32 mark than Portman did in the entire prequel trilogy.

I think you're overthinking it too much. Remember, a lot of this dialogue was probably recorded just for the trailer. Just like Mark Hamil said his classic ROTJ dialogue that we saw in the first trailer will not be heard in the movie.

How do you know for sure? I'm not debating it, because I have no idea. But in Empire, we didn't see the entire planet. We only saw a small section in and around the rebel base. Is it not possible that it's less cold on other parts of Hoth, and that there could be more mountainous regions on the planet that we didn't see before?

While I have no definitive proof, I just believe that Abrams has no interest in recycling old locations. I think he's more interested in expanding and growing this universe.

That certainly makes more sense than it being because there are mountains.

I noticed that too in the US trailer a few weeks ago...
[Show spoiler]you have no idea how many times I paused it there and tried to make out what that shape was. There were parts of me that thought it looked like Chewie, and then at another freeze frame, I thought I made out what looked like Admiral Ackbar's mouth on the left side of the screen. Also, when I saw that an Ewok was listed on imdb, I thought it could be a generic Ewok...since Kylo gets Vader's mask, I assume he goes to Endor to retrieve it...and that red blast over the trees in the US trailer I thought was the Starkiller base annihilating Endor. Who knows??????????

It's just that I hate seeing these ''new planets'' that are obvious remakes of the ones from previous movies.

Are you serious? You wanted The Phantom Menace to have special effects 16+ years ahead of its time?
I think it has been confirmed that the Starkiller base is an ice planet. The scenes from the trailer show a trench on the surface below the TIE Fighter/X-Wing battle...not sure if it IS Hoth or not, but either way...

The Battlefront video game will most likely tie in the Jakku battle with the pre-order bonus of that battle. I tend to think it is not Tatooine.

What I do want to know is why another trench?? Don't these guys learn??
