Love seeing all the new footage in the Japanese/international trailer, although I think the first version is actually a more tightly put together, 'better' trailer.

Interesting idea, thanks for posting it. (Not first ever... by a long shot though, the link you posted quotes the subjective term 'strong').

Wasn't there one already in the beginning of Phantom Menace?

They can be programmed to be feminine or masculine apparently. But you're right, it is essentially a silly, human-centric view of the world!

Seeing as everyone's trampling over the (potential) spoiler-ness now, there are numerous female droids in canon Star Wars including the films and The Clone Wars series. TC-14, FLO, the Midwife Droid, BD-3000s, R2-KT... that's just off the top of my head.

Reminds me of the youngling scene in ROTS.

But this time it's the audience that's going to be stepping back.

I love how someone mentions something using the spoiler tag, and everybody replies without it, basically spoiling everything for those who, like me, didn't want to read spoilers

Come on now, you can't discuss this movie online if you don't want to get spoiled. That's not realistic, especially on a forum and thread of this size.

does the "sex" of a droid really ruin anything in the movie??

Yeah... I consciously tried to avoid that in my initial reply... But really it's a rumour, not confirmed yet, and I think if you want to avoid even potential spoilers to that degree I would advise you to not read this thread or any like it until you've seen the film. Not how it should be, but just how it is I think. People are going to get excited and discuss stuff, I doubt anyone meant any harm.

Some sites have specifically separate spoiler and spoiler-free threads, like on theforce.net's forums, you want to check that out to keep up to date with news without as much risk of spoilers.

Okay, what the hell, let's see some screen captures.

This looks like it will be one of the iconic shots from the movie:

Heating up the village:

I like the spotlight on the front of her blaster:

Is this "the pirate castle?"

The 'snow trench':

I'm loving all these in-atmosphere battles, frankly:

And the evolutionary changes to the TIE fighters:

Chewie flicks his bic:

Chewie flicks his bic:

Bye bye, RC droid:

You don't want to be a stormtrooper on the best of days, but the wall of X-Wings taking a supersonic water wake with them looks incredibly badass:

As we've seen, some TIE fighters have a bottom or rear turret:

Wasn't the droid that helped Padme give birth to the twins a female droid? Her finger looked like a huge dildo. Just funny all around. Obi Wan had a good view too.

I think until the film is released or the tie-in novel or screenplay are published, everything just speculation. Some of it might end up to be true, some of it might be false. So it's just a courtesy to spoiler speculation.

Looking at the trailer for the Asian market it kind of looks like
[Show spoiler]BB-8 meets Rey early in the movie, I wonder if Fin and BB-8 are together and they get separated, and Rey brings them back together. It would kind of riff on Artoo trying to find Obi-Wan in A New Hope
?
