Not necessarily - sepsis is a type of blood infection but, if the wound has been cauterized, there would be a substantial reduction in the risk of it. He might have died from going into shock -- but, since he's screaming and flailing on the way down the hole, that seems unlikely -- or his stomach acid eating into his other important organs, such as the heart or lungs. Many people have been born with nothing from the waist down, or have had their legs blown off/amputated and have lived fine in the real world - this is science fiction, so their medicinal capabilities are better anyway.

The way I remember it, he's cut at about his belly button level, if not a little bit lower. This would mean that his abdomen would be cut but it would have probably missed most of his stomch and just sliced his intestines.

+1 on the bottom part - he's portrayed as this huge villian, capable of killing anyone, yet he's confused when someone flips over him? He almost invites Obi-Wan to just slice him open.

They don't call him Darth Maul anymore, now they call him Darth Colostomy Bag.

But you can't bring back Vader (at least not Anakin Skywalker as Vader either in resurrected or clone form) without totally crapping all over the ending of ROTJ and the overall point of both the OT and the (formerly) "Complete" Saga.
His Force energy is released when he hits rock bottom of a space station that gets destroyed minutes later. It would be quite inplausible IMO.

Besides, now we have Palpatine who uses Anakin's emotions to turn him over to the dark side when Mace attacks him (where Mace has the upperhand, or so he wants Anakin to believe) but forgets those same emotions when he fries Luke in front of Anakin, who once again chooses the weaker side and tosses Palpatine to his death.

And lest we forget, even Yoda, the most powerful Jedi, couldn't beat Sidious. It was only through love, an emotion probably unbeknownst to him, that he was finally beaten.

Not only Vader's arc would be destroyed by bringing him back, but Palpatine's return would suffer the same fate. And let's be honest, it's not as if Lucasfilm can't create new interesting villains (they only need to learn to not finish them off in the very same movie he is introduced ).

Agreed...and besides, if the Sith were all wiped out, Palpatine and Plagueis must have learned their stuff somewhere. Methinks there might be a mirror to the Jedi archives out there somewhere, like a Sith temple.

In the Star Wars universe, getting cut in half doesn't mean you're dead. And neither does fourth degree burns.

Also re: Dooku. He was a much superior character all around. And fit the mold of Sith Lord better than Pit Bull Maul.
Really? Dooku existed only so Anakin could behead someone and start his journey to the dark side. Thats all Dooku really did. Way too old, not scary, not important enough. Maul was a pit bull all right but he could have had a decent little story-arc to follow along with. His rogue nature reminded me of Qui Gon who also went a little off the beaten path with some of his decisions.

I feel it was a blown opportunity.

As for the cauterize thing - Im not buying it. You arent going to survive being cut in half. Even with no bleeding. Your bottom half gets NO blood and dies rather quickly. I suppose the top half could live for a while - but didnt that 5+ mile fall cause Maul some harm too? Even so, hed be rather handicapped with NO legs.

I agree - this is why visiting much further into the past would be a great way to do the movies. Darth Bane, Plagueis, the origination of the Sith, etc, etc. Great stuff there and they can do their own "cannon" per say. Way more opportunities there for material and you likely wont offend any of us SW geeks.

Was looking for a good .gif to go with that but couldn't find anything! I'll just have to go with this to express my anger:

You just reminded me that Dooku told Obi-Wan that a Sith Lord had taken control of the Senate in Clones...did Obi-Wan just forget to relate that nugget in his report? "I think he was lying, but here's what he said. Don't investigate further, we're too busy fighting meaningless battles all over the galaxy."

I don't know much about the Extended Universe (Comics/ Novels...), but as far as vilains go, isn't there supposedly a Sith World out there, kinda like the Tree in TESB but the -entire- world, including a race of beings attuned to it?

That could provide a good center plot.

This being said, I'm not sure if I want the main plot to be Force/ Jedi centered like the PT was. One of the good things in the OT was actually imo how sparse but awesome the use of the Force and Jedi feats were.

Early Dark Jedi who had warred against the Jedi were exiled to the planet Korriban, where they conquered a powerful but malleable indigenous species known as the Sith race. Treated like gods by their conquered people, they proclaimed themselves "Lords of the Sith."

I'm pretty sure he told Yoda at the end of Clones. Shortly before Yoda says, "Begun the Clone Wars has."

He does tell him, Yoda replies with how lies and deceit are Dooku's way now and Mace reacts with the notion that they nevertheless should keep a closer eye on the Senate.

Jedi aren't too good at routine detective work, apparently.

Hiya, there, Chancellor Palpatine. I guess you've heard that story about Count Dooku. Yeah, boy, he's got some crazy ideas, you know what I mean? Running around with those termites and chopping off hands, starting a war. You know he could have killed Obi-Wan Kenobi, but he didn't? Yeah, that's true. He tried to get Obi Wan to join him. He even said that a Sith Lord was in charge of the Senate. Crazy. Just out there, you know? I hate to do this, it's just an informality, but I need to know where you were on a couple of dates.

Ha ha!! Good one. I find that I have to take "reality" out of the movies when I
watch them. Otherwise I'm analyzing it based on "real world facts" and ruins it for me.

OK, I finally see what people are saying when they meant Fox will lose 5 of the 6 films to Disney in 2020 (I've looked it up on the internet). I don't want that to happen and I'm pretty sure most of you don't want to either. They belong to Fox and should stay with Fox for all eternity!

Not particularly bothered who owns the rights to the distribution as long as there is someone who will listen to what the fans want. Disney have already mentioned that they would release the UOT so I would quite like them to own the rights eventually.

I fail to see how the Star Wars films belong to Fox. Fox was anything but understanding to Mr. Lucas during production of the original, and they made it a miserable, miserable experience for him. Like it or not, distribution rights to five of the six films belong to Disney in eight years, and I wager Disney will do some horse-trading to get the original as well. Why do you care who distributes a finished product anyway?

It's Fox! They distributed them, they what help made themselves great, it's part of their legacy! I suppose next you'll be telling me it's OK for someone else to own The Simpsons or the Ice Age films. While we're at it, maybe you think it's OK for someone like Warner to own Disney properties.

A release of the OUT with the Disney logo instead of the Fox logo? No thank you! OK, that probably won't happen. But what I don't want to happen is for Disney to own the Fox Star Wars films.

They don't "Belong To Fox". They belong to Lucasfilm. Which is now owned by Disney.

The only thing that "Belongs To Fox" is the distribution rights. And only til 2020 for all but A New Hope.
