‘Because of its historical and social importance this was classed as a prestigious restoration and therefore it will go out as Ultra High Definition HDR, 4K.’

I found it funny, and still do, so I laugh at it. It's not much more complicated than that. I also found it hilarious that in the same video Vincent Teoh started to speak about how the highlights on the Panasonic OLED were losing colour compared to the highlights on the Sony mastering monitor and the guy from Panasonic shut him down and said they'll speak about it afterwards, i.e. off camera

Yeah, I'm skipping OLED the same way I skipped plasma. I'm well aware of the advantages but the disadvantages are just too great for that kind of investment I've made in my A/V system.

I'm hoping my ZD9 lasts long enough that I can skip OLED entirely and move on to a different tech, but it doesn't look likely.

Have you been able to observe a calibrated OLED in a dark environment, playing a 4k Blu-ray? I would like to know your thoughts.

I'm hoping someone in Sony engineering says "Damn the torpedoes!" and produces what would be a (probably) 8K version of the Z9D.

I think they worked their equivalent of Scotty (Scotty-ku?) to death to make the ZD9.

Intended for viewing on HDR enabled iOS devices and for Keanu Reeves fans and Kris, in case time-challenged but nevertheless in need of a quick quarantine fix, just skip to the 01:45 mark –https://app.frame.io/reviews/af46158...5-e55c7b4f982e

It seems like Sony are fine with doing these badboi prototypes 'behind the scenes' but in public they treat LCD like dogshit, it's a shame that there's this massive gulf in-between.

reminder for tomorrow
P.S.
Wabo, I realize the Everton v Chelsea match will be streaming on the Peacock at the same time, but see if you can break away for a few hours from watching your favorite sport and join in. Make yourself a margarita (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parrothead), kick back and relax while watching the mixer.
