I don't mean "revisonism" so much but how HDR vs SDR pans out in general.

The narrator remarks that the images of animals against bright rocks were deliberately boosted into a yellowy tone in SDR by a different colourist to sell the effect, while the dynamism and contrast of HDR means that it doesn't need to cheat the colour in order to convey the intensity of the shot, so it ends up looking more natural and yet more vibrant at the same time. He also mentions how blue can end up being mixed with green in the SDR volume if you want more brightness on a blue sky, hence the more cyany skies we've become accustomed to in SDR 709 perhaps? Fascinating stuff and thanks to Penton for posting it again.

b.t.w., to those with eagle eyes, yes, that’s a single seat F/A-18E with Mav’s markings in front on the right as seen in the trailer
unbeknownst to social media, ^ single seater with Mav's markings groomed at VX-23 : https://www.navair.navy.mil/nawcad/vx23

don’t know, but something which may have been picked up by social media by now is that it’s true that the next role for the CAPT PETE MITCHELL “Maverick” single seat F/A-18E’s will be as Blue Angels jets

What the hell is with all the 32-year old’s that have a birthday today? Scottish or Wabs, look into that with your medulla oblongata. Seems suspicious. Was Vincent T. posting one of his provocative YouTubes last mid to early July and he got a bunch of parental readers excited?

Where are the Oscars going?

All we truly want is to see Maverick, Furious 9, Dune, Mission: Impossible 7, Avatar 2 (((3D))) and No Time To Die. ...All in HDR, of course.

Without Hollywood where would we be, in front of our HDR OLED TV?
...Watching LOTR again in HDR 4K, and Justice League in HDR B&W (4:3 screen aspect ratio).

Some movies demand to be seen on a theatrical screen. Take Godzilla vs. Kong for example. Setting some what close, having them tower over you, is some of the thrill of the movie.

Of course, size does matter...and with Godzilla vs Kong even more.
Will it save more lives?

Or, about movie theaters @ the end of June? ...Before ID.

Although I struggle with Wabo’s medulla oblongata references, I’m a bit familiar with Peter Barten’s model from his book (Barten 1999) –

Robert, I’m glad you mentioned the processing earlier in the intro as I think that’s been underappreciated by all the press about the higher nits achievement.

For buyers looking to upgrade, I especially liked your statement regarding this year (2021) as compared to previous years, i.e. incremental changes -> big jump. I feel it rings of honest assessment rather than routine sales pitch -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEx4q08tRbw#t=4m42s

Also, as screens are becoming larger with time and I’d suspect that serious videophiles sit closer to their TVs than the typical consumer, it’s good that finally there is now R&D directed to the focal point –

as the fovea corresponds to only about 2 degrees of our visual field and is really how we appreciate and respond the most to detail and imagery in general. One question, and this is for the sake of my cabinet friend in the other thread - with regards to traditional processing, as he watches a lot of cable TV sports, which brand do you feel has the best 4K upscaling processor? And, is it fairly easily noticeable at a glance compared to other brands?
