This one has a bunch of extras so you can't fault any one who already owns the barebones one to get this one too. I understand you have a lot of excess gas to vent, but save it for ones that deserve it

Yeah, yeah. Then they can sell me the barebones one at cost, right? I'll take it.

Yeah I bought this one after selling the first one as soon as I heard this was coming. Hey, I needed a new projector. I of course set aside 35 for the new release.

I am one such "jerk" because I want all the extra features. If, when I receive the new release, a) I can validate that nothing remains exclusive to the first release and b) the video/audio quality of the new release equals or exceeds the first one, I'd be more than happy to sell you my mint condition original release at cost ($35). I'm keeping the magnet, though, LOL.

I own the first release but passed on this one. Extras used to be for me, but now I hardly find time for em. Plus if I care, I'm sure most, if not all, can be found online. Hell, the commentaries have been online for years and I never bothered to listen to em (I did download them, just never played through). More than happy to sit back and let this one pass. I also do not care that the value of my original release will drop drastically, the magnet keeps going up!

I tried to sell my magnet / magnets a few times no one ever wanted them. I think I have all of them that they released except one but not sure which magnet I was missing. (if any)

I was mildly irritated that TCM cancelled my single copy order, but I think I ordered it simply because it was limited, thereby proving the point made by many in this thread regarding the allure of the limited edition sales model. Of the few Twilight Time releases that I own, some of them have yet to be released in other regions (Used Cars, The Vanishing, The Blob) and others either have low stock remaining/are out of print and have releases available in other regions (The Driver, Rollerball). I realize it sounds bad, but I probably wouldn’t have bought some of the Twilight Time titles I own if their other-region counterparts were available at the same time (regardless of region locking). So, as a result of my order cancellation, if I’m still compelled to procure a bd copy of this movie, I’ll buy the German version and print an English language custom cover, because there’s no way I’d pay more than 38 bucks for this movie otherwise.

I agree, and this philosophy comes in very handy when a movie is re-released on bd without a video/audio upgrade but has new extras, like WB's re-releases of movies in Golden Dogsh*t packaging. Or is it Diamond Luxe? Whatever.

A generous offer, sir. For making it you are certainly no jerk. And I could not blame someone for wanting both if the 2nd one turned out to be inferior in some way despite the extras.

Am I sore for missing out? Yes. Both I, and TT, are to blame for that. They didn't limit it properly and they listed it at the busiest time of year for many.

There are folks out there that create magnets of every movie poster available and they sell them on ebay for 5 bucks. I doubt anyone would pay a lot just because it's from TT when they could get another one for cheap.

Does this new release come with a magnet?

I'd like to sport Fright Night on my fridge.

With this said, I will still buy Usual Suspects and Man on Fire when SE's come out. I've held off on them so far, sticking with my dvds but also checking the BD's out from the library here and there. I know I could import, I just don't want to.

TT is in no way, shape, or form to blame for you missing out. In fact, they increased the number from 3,000 to 5,000 so that you had a much better chance. And I understand that this a very busy time of the year for many, but it was available for at least 24 hours and took about two minutes to order (unless you tried to order the first hour of release).

Twilight Time took proactive action to limit sales of Fright Night (30th Anniversay Addition) to one per customer, which certainly helps to limit potential scalping by overly greedy individuals and by doing so it makes that copy available to more people at the Twilight Time selling price.

I fail to see why you feel that someone should not buy another edition of a movie that they already own? After all, we are all collectors in this forum and although I am not one that typically strives to own multiple copies of the same movie (Avatar being the exception); I am not ignorant to the fact that others may have that desire. So what, So be it!

We all knew when the movie was going to be available for pre-order and technically we all had the same opportunity to go on line and make the purchase at the time, noting that it was available for at least 24 hours before going OOP.

I figured the "fart" remark would help illustrate that my comment was of a playful, admittedly sour grapes nature. Not something worth arguing at length over.

As for placing some blame on TT for how this went down, well, I'll continue to do so. The quantity they decided to make, and the date they decided to put it up, and the methods by which they attempted to avoid scalpers were all their decision and all of those things appear to have played into my inability to get a copy. So from where I'm sitting I'm gonna give them some blame but not without acknowledging that I also am at fault.

You've missed out twice. It was available for 2 months the first go-round and 2 days the second. Plenty of advance warning both times. TT holds no "blame" and the "jerks" who bought both releases don't owe anyone anything, much less selling their copies at cost.

Here's a tip - if you want Christine, mark the day the pre-order goes live on your calendar and order it on that day.

I ordered this new one because I wanted the extras, and will be giving my copy of the first release to my horror-loving niece and her boyfriend as a gift.
