As well as home movies of time spent with his costars and celebrity friends. And a number of the fright night cast members have talked about their strong recollection of Roddy filming for hours and hours in his down time on set. With all the various movies he worked on hefilmed 1000s of hours of footage as well as at events he took part in. at one point it was beleieved this footage ended up at Boston University, but it turns out only his prop Peter Vincent's vampire slaying kit from Fright Night wound up there. But the on set home video footage is out there somewhere, just a matter of finding it. Last edited by WJWS Channel 13:Amity; 10-14-2014 at 01:25 AM. |

I'm excited that "Fright Night" 1985 is getting re-released by TT as a 30th anniversary edition. Have any confirmed extras been announced?
Good news that lower limits will be in place to start this time around as well. |

Finally picked this up on bd. Imported the German version for $15 and was pleasantly surprised to see the menus in English. This is my first import that wasn't from the UK.
Watched it last night and was impressed with the picture quality. Only down side is that the German version doesn't have HD audio, but HD audio isn't worth an extra $20. |

Good job. Although I spent triple that amount importing it's still an arm and a leg cheaper than what the scalpers on ebay are asking. I'm also excited for the re-release Twilight Time is doing in Jan 2015. Sooo curious to see what extras we'll be getting on this release.

Forgive me if this information has already been passed along, but on the Killer POV podcast where Tom Holland was the guest, he goes into a story about how he went on a trip and one of the hosts of Killer POV who I guess is a friend, house-sat for Tom. Needless to say, a lot of digging around was done and Rob G. (one of the 3 hosts of Killer POV) found some very old "Fright Night" EPK tapes and converted them to disc for Tom and they are attempting to get them on the new Twilight Time re-release. I believe he also scanned some promo or behind the scenes stills he hopes make it onto the release as well.
Another fun, but very sad story is that Tom had either the very original or one of the original Chucky dolls from when he directed "Child's Play." Needless to say, this guy has no idea the worth of the collectables he had. Long story short, one of the very original "Child's Play" dolls ended up being a chew toy for his dog and apparently his dog also liked to piss on it. Another fun story, back in the early 90's or so HBO was try to develop a new anthology show, even though they already had "Tales From the Crypt." Anyway, as some of you know the few episodes that they did, one or two, maybe three, just ended up being turned into "Tales..." episodes. Well, Tom did one called "King of the Road" which famously starred a young Brad Pitt before he hit it big. As a gift, Tom was given or just took the leather jacket that Pitt wears through-out the episode. Anyway, it was too small for Tom, but fit his wife just right. Not until after the fact did he find out his wife gave the jacket away for free to her yoga instructor or something. Wild stuff, any fan should check out the Killer POV podcast where Tom Holland guest stars. |

I sincerely hope this upcoming reissue has more than just an isolated track and some liner notes for extras. An Anniversary Edition implies, at least to me, that it should be stacked with extras. Actually I'll be happy if it just includes a featurette with the surviving cast members and maybe a commentary (wasn't one rumored?)

The film was originally in Dolby Surround (mono surround) and had more separation to all channels. This flattening out of the mix is typical of many films bumped up to 5.1. I hope the TT release has the original 4:2:4 mix. |

The re-release will have the same A/V quality as the first, but only with more special features. If the special features is not a big deal to you, than keep the one that you already have.
