In reality a limited edition creates artificial demand, so this extra demand means they can "get away with" charging more. I'm not knocking it at all, it works great for them. But I'm under no illusion they they can't sell titles with no limits (at least made publicly known) like anyone else. They aren't a start up company anymore that can't play by the same rules as the established labels.

It's not that Sony decided this, rather than the face that the generous licensing fee they can get from TT makes more economic sense. If TT wasn't around, then Sony or somebody would definitely be releasing it. After all, it's pretty obvious that it's worth a release, even from Sony if they wanted to. But the difference is that Sony (or anybody else for that matter) probably couldn't get away with charging $30 for it and sell 5000 units at the same time.

All that said, like Criterion, I do have a soft spot for TT. It's mostly because of their signed freebies. That's a nice touch. Getting an autographed signed by Oliver Stone or Pat Boone's, or other important person involved in the movie is pretty cool, IMO. Also I think most of their releases are very good quality.
If TT didn't exist then I think we all know Scream Factory would be ALL OVER this title

The brown color doesn't go with the blue at all IMO.

I don't think anyone has any worry of missing out today... it won't sell out for at LEAST a week.

Is there any sort of signed copy or anything being offered this time around as with the last couple releases?

I hope I dont insult anyone by asking, does Screen Achivers/Twilight Time charge the credit cards right away when pre-ordering or do they chage it when item ships? I have bought from them, but always in stock items.

If you pay thru PayPal it is right away payment. If you use your CC / Bank Card then they do a pre-auth which usually drops off after 3-5 days and then once the order ships then they issue the charge.

TT has stopped doing autographed copies with new announcements, they said goign forward they will only do them seperate to give others more of a chance on getting some of the autographed BLUs.

Bingo. 5000 copies guys and there are already 3000 out there plus tons of EU releases. If you truly just want 1 you will easily be able to get it later tonight for at least a couple days if not more. If you are a scalper trying to buy 3 you better be there on the minute though because they are going to knock it down to 1 rather quickly. I do wonder if they are going to crash the site this time. They have been pretty good but this is a big one.

its 10 PM in germany/france, 9 PM in UK

that should cover most EU countrys

i wish these TT releases would go to scream-shout or Arrow US...
TT prices are just way to insane to import. i would love to pick up more of their movies for lets say 16,99-25$ each.. but 40$ (48$ including shipping and import free.. nah)

its anyway very unlikely this will sell out in a few hours..
the blob was avaible for days before they droppt the order limit per customer to 1.

with the previous 3000 releases, yet another 5000 and the many EU releases for 10€... srsly i doubt there is that much interesstet even among movie freaks.
im not sure myself if i want the rerelease at all since i already own the EU release.

LOL! TT is nothing compared to preordering Asian steelbooks. Now that's some scary stuff right there!

I cannot believe that Fright Night is almost 30 years old. It seems like yesterday when I was reading the tie-in novel and waiting for this to show up on HBO when I was in eighth grade. Where did that time go?

Life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer you get to the end, the faster it goes.

Anyway, I'll be ordering this, along with four other choice Twilight Time titles. I'll actually get off of work in time this afternoon, since it's a holiday week.

Thank you PowellPressburger , 2nd question, is there anything special or ramifications when ordered through paypal, i.e. , do they ship first, last, same?

There is no ryhme or reason to how they fill orders to be honest. I've ordered before 2 days before release date and got mine shipped out first day and I order the first 3 mins and mine ship out days after they start shipping. Just tell yourself you will get it by the end of January don't count on getting it too early.
