i watched mine tonight.

I'm happy with the import since it was cheap and I can actually watch it during the month of october. I'm not a huge extras person myself either.

I wouldnt count on it, I had the pleasure of moderating the 30th Anniversary FrightNight Panel at MadMonsterShadowOverSeattle last weekend with pretty much the entire cast.(Chris, William, Amanda,Johnathan,Stephen,Heidi,Art) And I brought up the fact Tom Holland and the cast had to take upon themselves to even create pirate audio commentaries a while back (the icons of fright mp3 commentaries youcan find on itunes)
It opened up a small can of worms over the lack of special edition treatment of film that was quite succesful.
They still have never been approached about taking part in any extras, and at this point none of them really expect anyone to ever approach them to do any either.

Chris even made a point suggesting fans could/should import, the german release. As that is the best and most affordable option for atleast owning the film.

That's very interesting. Thanks for sharing that w/us. What is your guess this 30th Anniversary edition is gonna bring us by way of extras? I read earlier someone mentioned possibly that a 50GB Disc this time around?

My guess is nothing current, cause as of last weekend, the surviving cast members said they still have never been approached. And that even the "pirate" commentaries were orchestrated by Tom.

I would definitely reccomend those commentaries if you've never heard them you can find them for free on iTunes

Sounds like they won't be much good if no one in the cast had been contacted as of last week, and the disc is coming in three months!

It's a shame cause they have so many great stories
Of making the movie. And they enjoyed talking about it.

i wonder if it's going to be one of those features that has a bunch of professional "horror hounds" & geeks who had absolutely NOTHING to do w/ the original film waxing nostalgic & pontificating on the impact the movie had on vampire/horror movies in modern culture ever since...

as much as i'd love to have a comprehensive special edition of this movie (it's still one of the movies i loved as a kid that has the most replay value for me today), i'm hoping i won't mind passing on this new edition. i had no qualms paying the full price for the movie on its initial release, but i'd like to be able to avoid paying again for the features.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Nick Redman did a new commentary for the movie.

A 30th Anniversary Edition with just a trailer and isolated score sounds very lackluster. I thought there was a filmed cast reunion from 2011? I don't get why they're even bothering calling it anything if it's simply just a new transfer

Question for you guys more familiar w/Twilight Time. Is this the 1st time a limited edition run was re-issued again after the 3 yr option was up? If not, what did they do for the secondary release of said title to differentiate original from re-issue? Or is this the 1st time, making it uncharted territory for them?

Well without any new input from any of the cast members, the only thing that I could find making this worthwhile is if they somehow managed to track down Roddy Mcdowell's lost "Home movies" from the film shoot. Which no one else still to this day has been able to actually track down.

I'm honestly suspicious that the new extra/s will be a commentary by Nick Redman

Nick Redman isn't that familiar with the film. He didn't even know much about it when Sony offered it to him in 2011. If there is a commentary track, I could see it including the same horror film authority guy they used for The Blob.

This isn't specific to this movie, but I don't get the comments above dismissing tracks or interviews from such genre experts, as if they can't provide valuable information just because they weren't on the set. Many of the best commentaries I've listened to have been from such experts and historians, and many of the worst have been with cast and crew.

Ryan Turek is the guy who did the commentary for The Blob. So perhaps another with him and Holland then?
