The disc defaults to Dolby Vision, so it is fine by default. The issue only occurred when you switched From Dolby Vision to HDR10 and back. If it is still present, once we have official builds, we will document it and show people how to work around it. Thank you for reminding me. |

Hey, its back!
![]() 1. Disc 2 is 99.9% encoded. Just waiting on the AE project to be finished for the 7 Atmos panning clips. Hoping to have that this weekend so I can render and and encode them. 2. Trying to nail down the encoder settings for disc 3. Having a difficult time encoding the HD resolution montage. It looks worse than the UHD versions (compression artifacts) and i am using the same settings / bitrate as UHD. x265 is just not performing well with HD. A friend is trying a couple of different BD encoders for me to see how they perform. 3. We need to finish the beginners guide so we can get it formatted for printing. 4. Need to get the cover and disc art created. 5. Pick the level of the LFE for the montage music. A few versions have been shared and waiting on feedback. 6. And of course, the biggie, testing all of it once they are authored. |

The bitrate for AVC on UHD BD is pretty low. Not sure it supports HDR either. Need to check on that.
Here is one issue with the HD encode: This occurs on two shots. Then several other shots has keyframe pulsing. Last edited by Stacey Spears; 04-27-2021 at 01:56 PM. |

Let me take a quick poll.
Do you want the up arrow to show pop-up help or the nit menu? Then the down arrow will do the other. As of today, the up-arrow shows the format / nit menu. The down arrow shows the help. The 1st and 2nd edition used the up arrow for help. There was no format menu. The UHD edition used the up arrow for the format / nit menu because there was no help. |

For example you write: "These boxes test whether the Y’CbCr channels are getting clipped at the reference high / low levels before being converted to RGB. This is always wrong; clipping should always be done as late as possible in the display pipeline, and certainly only in RGB." I'd love to know why exactly this is wrong. But maybe this is way too detailed for such videos. Quote:

Indeed... The UHD disc specification does not but the HEVC video format permits interlaced video.

On the flip side the RGB boxes are all within 64-940 (960 for chroma) in YCbCr. in RGB, they are all >940. That is to show why you should not clip in RGB either. ![]() We are saying don't clip, but if you have to, do it after conversion to RGB. Yes, we can do a video that goes into more detail on the Color Space Evaluation pattern. Thank you for requesting it. Last edited by Stacey Spears; 04-29-2021 at 01:46 AM. |

a review - https://www.space.com/awaken-4k-docu...-dust-premiere a couple years back he did a 300 nit grade from a 1000 nit master for a cinema LED screen, but as I recall it was only shown at a couple demos – never widely distributed |
