DEREK JARMAN also seems like a good fit and BFI did a season of his movies last year so I presume there are a number of restorations already in the bag.

I'd still put my money on and am keeping my fingers crossed for Alan Clarke. I can't think of a more important/better British filmmaker who is so underrepresented on home video.

Looks like the release date for Farewell My Concubine has been pushed back to March 21st. The good news is it just dropped to £11.98 on Amazon.

That's okay with me, as my January budget will be taken up by other releases (MoC's A Touch of Zen and The Friends of Eddie Coyle, plus TWF's Hana-bi). Hope it doesn't end up getting pushed back constantly, but I'm happy to wait as I'd want it done properly rather than rushed out! There isn't much Chinese cinema on UK Blu-ray so we should cherish it.

If it doesn't get delayed any further, that'll be a great week - it now has the same release date as Bande à part and Culloden + The War Game. So basically the three main titles I'm interested in pre-ordering from BFI's Q1 slate!

Only a two month delay, and it will be well worth the wait. I'm getting this no matter how delayed it is (same goes for The Wages of Fear, and any others that get delayed).

There isn't much on Blu-Ray, anywhere in the world.

Could be worse....I still have Au Hasard Balthazar pre-ordered from 2013 at Amazon. Now it's just a curiosity to see if it will ever get released on blu-ray?

Default Birth of Nation

sorry if this has been brought up before.

Just wanted to know what version of birth of a nation to buy (MOC or BFI) or both?

cheers

Unlike Nosferatu and The Man with the Movie Camera, this time round it's the BFI that's used the best quality materials in the form of Kevin Brownlow's restoration plus the original 1915 score.

It also has a full supporting feature in the form of Thomas H. Ince's The Coward (1912).
Thanks.

I noticed both editions have different short films?

Sounds good. I only wish I could find some information on the differences between the restoration Eureka used and this Photoplay/Brownlow restoration. You wouldn't happen to know how the content of the film itself differs between the two presentations?

P.S. Did this get delayed?

Two "new" (?) records for the Rossellini and Preminger sets at Zavvi, today: 19,99 and 24,99 respectively. I bit on the latter.

It says sold out for the Preminger. Also, this may be a dumb question, but do they do shipping to the US?

I managed to grab a copy, but it was listed as "shipping in 5-10 days", so I don't think they actually had it in stock. I really hope I will get it, but I don't trust Zavvi 100% in cases like this.
