Since a remaster of Tokyo Story is not out can we expect a remaster (CC Master) of Seven Samurai?!

Now that the licences are expiring, Disney will probably get round to okaying the restorations of Whirlpool and Fallen Angel...
Do you think that there is any chance that The Iron Horse could get back on the restoration schedule or is it pretty much a hopeless cause at this point? I remember how happy I was when TT announced they were going to release The Iron Horse, so much so that I was going to order it Day 1 but then that excitement turned to disappointment when they announced that it was cancelled. Yes, I still have the 2-disc DVD released by Fox of it which will have to suffice if it doesn't ever make it to BluRay.

No; as far as I'm aware, there hasn't been a new restoration released in Japan?

Disney have a good record for restoring titles, so it probably will be eventually, but with them refusing to even renew existing licences for Fox titles I doubt we'll ever see a Blu.

And I'll eat my hat if those 4K Borzage and Ford restorations ever show up on Disney Plus either! But you never know

That's what I thought, The Iron Horse being cancelled and not likely to ever seen BluRay is probably the biggest disappointment for me or well the second after Roman Holiday not making it to BluRay but that's another discussion for another day.

I recently relented and bought the MoC DVD of the Iron Horse. So expect a Blu-ray any day now!

Does anyone know why Ryan’s Daughter has never been released on Bluray?
There’s a Spanish bootleg but nothing else.
2020 is the 50th anniversary so would have been a perfect time to release one.

There is very little writing about the films. I was expecting to read more than a page and a half on Fallen Angel (and it was especially annoying that some of that was plot synopsis).

Also went ahead and grabbed the BFI version of Odds Against Tomorrow. The extras sold me on it. There are three more BFI titles I am thinking of get not today but down the road which are Gaslight 1940, Beat the Devil, and Separate Tables. I know the BFI version of Gaslight is the one to get, but comments on the other two? I bought the Kino Blu of Separate Tables in their While Supplies Last sale, but if the PQ looks better on the BFI I may double dip or get it for the Burt Lancaster interview.

Just noticed Cyrano de Bergerac is £9.47 at MusicMagpie. Not sure how long this has been the case, but here's a link in any case:

Not too bothered about that - it's for 12 seconds of animal cruelty which I can do without.

Shame about the other version not being there, though.

There's another 10 in stock for £9.48 at rarewaves-outlet on Ebay (just ordered a copy)

Can't get over how good a deal £2.37 per film (or £3.16 per disc) is!

The only shared extras seem to be "Living & Departed" 2013 visual essay by Tag Gallagher and "My Dad is 100 Years Old" 2005 short film by Guy Maddin

Plus 2 versions of Journey to Italy on the UK compared to US.

The film selections diverge from the US too - Europe '51 is exclusive to the US; Fear and The Machine That Kills Bad People exclusive to the UK.

Btw re the Bergman/Rossellini set, the biggest issue is that Journey to Italy has obviously crushed blacks and I don’t think any amount of tinkering at the user end can uncrush them.

Also has the IMHO inferior Italian language version of Stromboli only.
