Awful fail. Nas had fallen off by the late 90s.

Just received Yojimbo & Sanjuro a couple of days early (had pre-ordered from HMV), and sadly it's just in a regular slipcase, not the slipbox I had expected for some reason (thought it'd be similar to Seven Samurai, seemed like they were treating the chanbara equally). I guess it's the discs I wanted most but just a heads up for anyone making decisions about upgrading (I got the regular Blu-ray set but I assume the 4K UHD set is the same deal).

Thank you. Mine will take time to arrive from Rarewaves, and I´ve been looking for photos or unboxing videos as I was also curious of the format. Not really consistent these Kurosawa editions from BFI: slipcase, box, black or white single case...

My HMV pre-order has been delayed, they're awaiting more stock, but apparently it's already on the way.

My Rarewaves Yojimbo arrived yesterday.
How many 4K Kurosawas could BFI release (on 4K or otherwise)? Hopefully they don't stop when all the obvious titles are done. I'd lije to see the films from their prior "Classic Collection".

Toho don't usually like to licence titles until they've had a domestic release but they've let BFI release Throne of Blood a couple of days prior to its domestic release so we may well see more quite quickly Japan is getting The Hidden Fortress on the same day, so that seems most likely for the next announcement.
The prior batch of Japanese 4Ks included Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, High and Low, Stray Dog, Ikiru, and Kagemusha. Kagemusha is likely to have gone to Criterion both because they have an existing edition on BD and because the international rights are with Fox.

Cheers

After double checking found that the postie had left it underneath my car - that's a new one for me

Anyone else had their Yojimbo cancelled or delayed?,
no response from HMV about mine at all and it's no longer available when you get to the end of the checkout.

This seems to be the new normal for HMV. Mine is in limbo despite my ordering it on the 10th of January.

Thirst and Harlequin both arrived dinged from them thanks to bad packaging, so even with the 20% discount I’m considering scaling back on my purchases from them. :/

Yeah I got an email on Friday saying mine had been delayed, still waiting for an update. Preordered back in January. Fingers crossed it ships soon!

The way it's getting sorted and people are/aren't notified seems wildly inconsistent, fingers crossed I get a response soon.

Also ordered from HMV in Jan and got a delayed email on Fri.

They said there was a delay in receiving stock but they'd been assured it was on the way. Watch this space.

Also ordered Yojimbo/Sanjuro back in Jan (with 20% code) however email received on Friday to say it was delayed due to a delay in receiving stock from the supplier. Yet I walked into my local HMV store after work today and there were several sitting on the shelves. What gives?...

Also waiting on my Yojimbo/Sanjuro 4k set from HMV. I ordered it pretty much as soon as it was announced in November of last year. Hope it turns up soon.

Very odd. I ordered a copy from HMV on Sunday evening, and it was sent out to me within hours, on Monday morning.
