Didn't see this posted, but it looks like Seven Samurai will finally get a non-Steelbook edition

Im gonna try my luck.

Ebay and paypal emails clearly say "late spring"
Well there is always paypal to get a refund if the wrong or no item arrives 😆

Already got the criterion, but want this for the other movie in the set

Yeah and we all would've bought that...oh no wait there's a Kurosawa Samurai set coming out with that exact same disc. Come on, BFI. Guaranteed most people bought the steelbook, regret it slightly, and will now buy the set. Who's gonna buy the non-steelbook separate edition of Seven Samurai? Unless they 1) really hate steelbooks and 2) don't want (?) the whole set.

Just finished watching The Belly of an Architect, again very visually stimulating and good soundtrack. Will read the booklet before going to bed.

Very strange coincidence though, I finished the film and had a look what was on TV, and found The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (another Greenaway film) on Film4! Watched about 10 minutes of it but I'd like to see it from the beginning and preferably in HD. Going to try to get that Mexican Blu-ray of it.

Continuing the Greenaway post, is there any reason why Park Circus's BD of The Pillow Book is no longer available?

Exactly why I hope all films become available separately.
Also 4 discs for five films?! Are Sanjuro/Yojimbo on the same disc?

It's a shame that Park Circus don't release more films. I don't know why The Pillow Book is not available. City Lights was like that for a while and then came back in stock. I'm just glad that I picked up a copy of The Pillow Book when I had the chance

I'll contact Park Circus to see if they can give me an answer.

Just ordered The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, £18.56 including shipping, as well as The Baby of Macon for £11.25. Not bad!

Looks like they've added another short to Eyes Without a Face.

Special features
Presented in both High Definition and Standard Definition
Les Sang des bêtes (Georges Franju, 1948, 21 mins): a haunting and visually striking study of a Parisian abattoir
Monsieur et Madame Curie (Georges Franju, 1953, 14 mins): a study of the life and work of the Curies, told through the words of Marie Curie
Les Fleurs maladives de Georges Franju (Pierre-Henri Gibert, 2009, 50 mins): an overview of Georges Franju’s career
For Her Eyes Only – An interview with Edith Scob (L P Hugo, 2014, 17 mins)
Audio commentary by Tim Lucas of Video Watchdog
Fully illustrated booklet featuring essays and full film credits

This is getting more and more worth it! I do wonder if they'll be adding anything to the Herzog set. It's a bit annoying it's been set back by a further month.

Apparently The Pillow Book won't be re-released.

Also my order of Late Spring arrived, except it's a Jackie Chan film

I didn't double dip for the Criterion (I already own the Gaumont release) despite the Gaumont being cut, but this is looking more and more interesting.
If BFI uses the Criterion master (uncut) and not the Gaumont one, I guess I'll double dip for the BFI.

October will also see the DVD and Blu-ray premiere of the BFI Archive’s digitally re-mastered version of one of British cinema’s most intense sci-fi offerings – The Day the Earth Caught Fire (1961), which will be available on DVD and on BFI Player day-and-date to coincide with its August screening at the British Museum.
