I agree, though Arabian Nights must have had some catastrophic damage over the years; Towards the end of Nur Ed Din's search for Zumurrud.

For those wondering what the Preminger set looks like:

I ordered mine from Amazon and it got put in a slim packet they use for 2 BDs side by side so it got crushed a little and has a few creases down the spine.

Mine got a slightly bulkier box as they put the Preminger set and Night and the City together. Very pleased with both

Mine just arrived, also with Night & the City. Exact same, creases down the centre, top, bottom of the package.

It seems to be a design fault though. Seems to be a little too big. It doesn't help that they used cheap card.

At first glance, the booklet is quite disappointing. Would have been nice to have more writing on the films, and Preminger in general.

I have a feeling they will send mine the same way, alongside Snake Of June. I've rated those mailers one star every time they use them, but they still use them. The past two Rossellini sets from BFI luckily arrived in perfect condition, so I'm holding out hope. If Dragon Inn wasn't delayed I imagine they would have shipped Snake with that, and the Preminger set separately.

It looks gorgeous though. I'm a fan of the thin cases with poster art for each title. Can't wait to see more Preminger.

I'm very tempted by this set but it would cost me roughly 90$ after conversion. Sucks to be in Canada.

My Preminger set arrived yesterday and was promptly returned yesterday. Squashed (sides and spine) in the card envelope Amazon put it in. Annoyingly out of stock on Amazon too at the moment. Tempted to pick it up in HMV if I see it tomorrow. Perhaps the extra £7 is worth it to save on the hassle.

Can someone recommend me 2 of the Ozu's that are on sale to try out? The titles on sale are:

An Autumn Afternoon
Early Summer
Late Autumn
Tokyo Story

They're all excellent, so any two. If I had to choose two then it would be Tokyo Story and Late Autumn.

Don't hesitate with Tokyo Story. I'd go for either Late Autumn or An Autumn Afternoon if you wanted a second one (Early Summer is the only BFI Ozu release I haven't bought yet).

As you appear to be in the US I would skip Tokyo Story in favour of the Criterion release. It's considered a great improvement over the BFI. Genuinely hard to choose between the others, they're all amazing. You can't go wrong with any of them.

I'd say Tokyo Story and Early Summer would be best.

To be honest, they're all very good... and quite similar in themes and style.
However, I would recommend An Autumn Afternoon or Tokyo Story, which IMO are the best within this list.
