Just got this reply from BFI on Twitter. "Seven Samurai is set for release this September."

I've got those already released in Region A land...but I've got The Great White Silence preordered...very psyched about that!

That is weird/screw up to have to wait a year longer for it than the Americans. But I will wait..And thanks Kristoffer for the info.

Oh hell. Finally - finally - bought The Innocents and, as owners of the oppo BDP-83 reported, it breaks up and pixilates on my BDP-80. I was hoping that either it affected just the one model, or the issue had been sorted, but, sadly, no...

Very strange. The only problem BD in my collection.

John, does it occur throughout the film, or is it limited to a few isolated portions? I too have a bdp-80 and had been planning on picking this up at some point. I hadn't heard about the Oppo issues on this title.

It starts on the menu, and then into the film and extras. It renders the disc pretty much unwatchable. I've emailed Oppo, but I'm not optimistic of any quick resolution.

Typically, Oppo has replied in quick time:

There are some issues related to playing some BFI titles. Some titles were fixed on our end, while others have inherent encoding errors which BFI needs to address. Unfortunately we do not know if The Innocents is one of the titles we can fix, or this requires replacement by BFI.

I own the innocents but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.
I will definitely watch this on my Panny soon and report if there are any issues.
btw: am still interested in knowing why un chien andalou isn't going to be in hd.
I mean it's only 16 minutes or so isn't it?
MichaelB--any chance of addressing this?
I have really enjoyed BFI's blu-ray releases so far, but I have to admit this is a huge disappointment, and seems like a missed opportunity.
If it hasn't been restored I guess I understand.
I would just appreciate some clarification.
thanks in advance.

interesting.
I guess that could be it.
I would never have thought that would have been the issue since BFI is obviously issuing it in sd.
Is that supposed to mean it will be released in hd in some other country later on perhaps?
hopefully some clarification will be made.

Just to let everyone know Base.com are selling a number of BFI titles from £6.95. I just bought Comrades for £6.95.

Start looking in the Drama section http://www.base.com/buy-bluray/pg340/bn100450/drama.htm but there are a few other titles tucked aways in Sci/fi & Docs.

is Base.com a reputable place? I'm way into this, considering their prices beat Amazon UK for the most part, as does their shipping.

Anyone ordered from the states?
