I also def. recommend Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner among these cheap ones. Most others I haven't seen. Saw Salo years ago...don't need to own it.
Thanks...rented that from NetFlix as well...will ponder what I want to do.

Thanks to you and CC for suggestions and inspiration.

Just ordered the Bill Douglas Trilogy as it looked the most appealing of the £5.99 BFI titles. How is 'Anti-Clock'? That was the second most appealing on the list.

It's very experimental. I thought it was interesting, I can't compare it to anything else I've seen. If you enjoy avant-garde cinema you'll probably find it worth your time and at that price I wouldn't hesitate.

Mmm... Nicely (in a raw and strange way) processed image textures, suggestive and mind-provoking ideas. But I finished the movie with some boredom and impatience. And I'm not a blockbuster-only guy, I swear it! Maybe the screenplay was in some no man's land: too ideas for a short, not enough for a full-lenght film. From my point of view, it's not a blind buy. But it's great that BFI made this experimental films available, and I'm glad to have it in my collection.

Nice! Which did you order? It is great that there are so many nice deals to be had on the BFI titles, as I was happy paying £11-14 for them, as the quality of their releases is fantastic!

BFI are the only few I ever blind buy. Winstanley turned out to be a great purchase, and although I have the Criterion version of Red Desert already I bought the BFI as I wanted to have the different booklet (as I'm a big fan of the film).

31 £ in total - Not bad I'd say.

Agree. That is, if you end up loving them. There are so many films I've never seen and blind buying is always a risky business. But for 5-6£ each it's not too scary.

Rkish, if you only get one Pasolini BFI blu - get Arabian Nights! I love that film.

Thanks charnier! I'd like to stream all of the films of the Trilogy, but thanks for a good starting point.

MichaelB...has there been any talk about either releasing the "Mikio Naruse Collection" set or any of the films in that set on blu-ray?

Thanks MichaelB...that is a real shame to hear. I'm so thrilled that the Ozus are getting their respected attention...but I'm just recently discovering Naruse.

Unfortunately, I'm hearing the same thing about the Masters of Cinema DVD set as well.

Just received BFi'sA Day In the Life Post War documentaries blu ray/dvd set. Its fantastic. If you are into film, nostalgia and British social history, then its a must.
Transfers are very natural, PQ is strong with lots of grain. There is more print damage on the "Elephant Never Forgets" London tram feature but the others seem in better condition. Definitely one for the collection
2 extra films are included too. If you watch "Mr Marsh Comes To School" see if you recognise the actor playing the Career Worker, it is Reginald Marsh who played Sir Dennis Hodge, Terry Scott's Boss who he is always trying unsuccessfully to impress in Terry and June and also Paul Eddington's boss in the Good Life

Thanks BigNick! I have been considering purchasing this. Too many other things coming out now that I want. I'm still waiting on the two Ozus due in late May and I just ordered the MoC Naruse DVD boxset. Lots of good stuff coming out here in the Colonies as well.

I'll probably opt for late Spring/early Summer on this and/or wait for a slight price drop...though 11.99 BSP is still a pretty good price.

Thanks again for the feedback!

I had to postpone my purchase of Saturday Night & Sunday Morning and Red Desert as Amazon don't have any of those BFI titles in stock. 1-3 weeks.
