Yeah, I want to see it but IMO the price is quite steep for what it is compared to other BFI releases of similar runtime, so I'll be holding on.

for some reason i decided to come on last night, saw the price reduction, and from there it kept dropping until the other fulfilled by amazon seller sold out of theirs. Then amazon raised the price back up

I wanted it but not for over 27 gbp but for 18.25 gbp shipped to the US, i don't think it will get much lower for a while

Also, the BFI and Criterion Bergman/Rosellini sets do share two films though, but Criterion has additional versions of those two films using its own masters (and BFI stuffed up the encode for Journey to Italy).
You guys are prescient.

Winner of Best Original Screenplay Oscar in 1992, Neil Jordan's The Crying Game is essentially the kind of romantic thriller suitable for being made in Bollywood, replete with conflicts, politics, plot twists
[Show spoiler](of course, barring that infamous, but tastefully executed one)
, male bonding, music and melodrama. However, the director never lets these tropes overstay their welcome and with the aid of terrific performances from an equally terrific cast, continues to subvert audience expectations throughout the very adequate 112-minute runtime.

And after a long period of rumors, The Crying Game finally arrives on Blu, thanks to BFI. The video, sourced from a 2k restoration from the OCN, looks fantastic as expected, with the club sequences shining the most. That said, most of the film was shot using natural light, and these portions too look pleasing and very natural on hi-def. The only audio track is an LPCM Stereo one, which though limited in terms of channel count, is very robust and clear. There's a healthy assortment of extras on disc including a BtS doc, director's commentary, interviews and an alternate ending shot to please the studio (who thankfully reverted to the originally shot one, for this ending would've caused the film to plummet straight into rom-com territory). Additionally, a DVD copy of the film is included along with a 32-page booklet with essays and pictures.

To be honest, I'm surprised Criterion didn't upgrade it faster.

2 extra films in 2 BFI sets (L'amore & The Machine That Kills Bad People made me keep them, even though I have the Criterion Rossellini-Bergman set & I sure will get their War trilogy. What are the chances of Criterion releasing these 2 films on blu?

I would say that's a scam. All items priced the same and seller has no feedback for at least a year.

Well, that listing turned out to be by another compromised account. Thanks gouryella for warning me there.

On the upside Amazon now have it for £17.39.

Price at amazon has dropped again. Just ordered it at it's current price, £17.39 (I just got back from shopping, so of course all the fun happens while I'm away). Works out to about the same after VAT removed and shipping added.

Nobody's seen this in person? Is it just a single clear case (with 3? discs)?

the difference in the 2 prices between sunday and today, with vat removed and shipping added on, only amounts to a 40 cents saving or something similar

For those of us who missed that, it's a lot bigger difference.

Apparently it's a standard 3 disc case in a slipbox with an 80 page book. Hence the higher than usual RRP.

I'll be watching it tonight

Amazon sent it in one of the regular cardboard envelopes so I was expecting some damage as it's just a little too big to be packaged in their properly, but it arrived in perfect condition

This is pretty high on my wants list, but I should imagine it's very harrowing.

I've visited several of the concentration camps in Poland (my wife and extended family are all Polish) and it's truly depressing stuff.

Missed getting German Concentration Camps Factual Survey the other day when it was around £18 at Amazon before it went up to £27

Got the price drop email this morning, and have it ordered it from Amazon for £17.41, arriving tomorrow

I'm absolutely not trying to rubbish anyone's opinion, but I'm struggling to see why anyone would choose to watch the Concentration Camps Survey.

Perhaps there's something I'm not realising about this release? What am I missing?
