I was lucky to get in before Amazon raised the prices again. Just a little less expensive than base.com's prices once you factor in shipping to the US.

I am looking at picking up the BFI release of Cry of the City to supplement my Kino US release as it appears to be a superior encode with bfi not trying to cram everything on a BD25. Would anyone know the page length of the included booklet?

I don't have it immediately to hand, but as I recall it's not extensive, perhaps around a dozen pages or so. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I was just curious, as it also has an additional commentary and a video essay if I recall. So I would likely pick it up either way. I would clean up on that Fopp sale if I was in the UK.

You could read the site review.

I work at Fopp and no they aren't. The £6 titles are the same as the ones in HMV's 5 for £30. The other Flipsides are £8, not £6, and everything else is more than that.

The four Flipsides I bought there last week, some of which had been mentioned, were all £6

I placed an order for El Sur and Cry of the City from Base.com. I believe they were £7.69 each. Thanks for the heads up about these being on sale.

Ordered it last week and it came with the slipcover. Same art as the case though, so I flung it in the recycle bin.

Yeah I caught a clip of it on their Facebook page and seemed like something up my street. Sleepy and rough around the edges but definably British.

I find it infinitely interesting that whole cultural under current that passed just close enough to the radar to not go completely un-noticed and now is fondly remembered was a successful way of portraying the ordinary population in a very non mundane way.

It's what the flipside range has managed to do very successfully , films like Deep End and Bronco Bullfrog much less stilted than previous portrayals and hold the interest so enchantingly.

Looks like BFI are reissuing Rossellini's The War Trilogy, for those that missed out before: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B073LK1N12

Slightly surprising, since they advertised it as Limited Edition and even numbered it, but there you go!

They did this with some DVD box sets notably 'Shadows Of Progress' which was fetching silly money on auction sites and amazon but I think the re-issues lost something from them might have been a booklet.
