NB" Pretty dumb of Criterion not to get in on that with their 4K restoration of Barry Lyndon, but there you go (I'm still gonna get Carnival of Souls at some point). Perhaps Indicator will announce Tourneur's Night of the Demon for that month... ![]() Quote:
3rd August 2015 for mine! Got it locked for £5.93 thanks to a promo code (pre-ordered with MoC's Seconds). Really does feel like a two year wait when you're looking back! |

I didn't realize until recently that the great Tim Lucas was able to do audio commentaries for 2 BFI releases that I didn't own.
Eyes without a Face & Alain Robbe-Grillet Six Films 1963-1974 Also a huge fan of actor Jean-Louis Trintignant so this set should be really nice. IMG_8748.jpg |

For sure slipped thru the cracks at least for me. I had the Alain 6 Films set on my Amazon UK wishlist since it was released just because it seemed like the better deal as opposed to the single edition U.S. Redemption label releases that I don't think got a release for all 6 films.
but the fact you get Tim Lucas on audio commentaries on all of them in the U.K. set! I recently looked did some searches to see if he was on any audio commentaries that I had missed and found out about these and a few others. Can't wait to go thru the films... I have seen Eyes Without a Face many several times since the first Criterion DVD release then BLU. Now this blu I will re-watch it again before I listen to the commentary. |

![]() ![]() This new collection brings together three of Ken Loach's finest films from the 1990s, titles linked by the director's career-long drive to tackle social injustice and contemporary political issues. In Riff Raff, Glaswegian jailbird Stevie (Robert Carlyle) heads to London to find work but discovers a world of corruption and degradation. Inner-city poverty is brought to the fore in Raining Stones, as unemployed Bob's (Bruce Jones) desperate attempts to afford a communion dress for his daughter results in a succession of disasters. Inspired by real events, Ladybird Ladybird is an emotional and harrowing story of a woman's fight to keep her children and relationship intact in the face of bureaucratic interference. I think it got posted when it was first announced but no harm in reminding people now it's almost out IMO.
![]() Only Loach film I have seen is I, Daniel Blake, which I thought was brilliant. Then again, I watched it in a cinema screening brimming with pensioners and they were loving every second of it, so maybe that enhanced it slightly. Definitely enough to interest me in this set though, I just don't want to add something to the watch pile that I won't get to for a while. Definitely one I'll be keeping an eye out for though. |
