Shot on film it's a perfect candidate for a BFI blu-ray, especially while most of the cast and crew are still around. Unfortunately the BBC saw fit to license it to Simply Media instead who saw fit to release it as a barebones DVD mastered from the same master as the 1980's BBC VHS.

Threads is shockingly bad quality but a must see

I was in the Bristol Fopp an hour ago and yes the BFI sale is still in full swing.

The Covent Garden branch of Fopp has an entire double shelf of them on the centre-right just as you enter the store. And there are (a few) additional titles downstairs, all at £6.

HMV just charged £10.99 to my credit card for Wages of Fear.

Hope I actually like the film after around two years on pre-order.

Wages of Fear has shipped from Amazon! This order wasn't that old actually, only Nov 6th last year as I cancelled my previous order and reordered to get free shipping for something else. Probably a couple of years combined.

Mine still says 'will dispatch on the 21st October' but hasn't moved an inch since I originally ordered it.

That might be a good thing. This is the one case where you should pay extra for slow and careful shipping.

Nah it'll be shoved in an A1 card envelope in Dumbarton around 4:30pm today and reluctantly carried by my local postie tomorrow as it's now showing as 'will arrive tomorrow'

I won't quite believe it until the postie gets to mine sometime between 11:30 and 14:30 tomorrow and I open it and feel it in my hands.

Even then I will have to open it and check the disc is the correct one and then play it just to make sure

I remember when I finally got my hands on the Olive release of Mannequin - in went the disc, on comes Mannequin 2......

I nearly cried.

Until I've got WoF in my hand, having just watched the entire disc and all the extras...I'll still be sceptical!
