Also received it just today (for an email sent late Monday, while I'm still waiting my Faust MoC replacement from July 18th ). Clear increase of bitrate (just check the opening credits : you go from 10 to 30 Mbps).

I always wondered why this particular title had such a low bitrate, which seemed clearly apart of the other titles. Now I know.

I noticed that the BBFC have recently cleared the film version of LITTLE MALCOLM AND HIS STRUGGLE AGAINST THE EUNUCHS for the BFI.

NEWS
https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=7050

Quote:
For the first time ever, the BFI is collecting together all of Humphrey Jennings' remarkable films, including his wartime masterpieces Listen to Britain, Fires Were Started and A Diary for Timothy, newly remastering them to High Definition and releasing them across three volumes. Each volume will be a Dual Format Edition and will include essential special features, including alternative versions and collaborative works.

The Complete Humphrey Jennings - Volume One: The First Days is out on 19 September.

Humphrey Jennings (1907-1950), widely considered to be one of Britain's greatest documentary filmmakers, is best known for films which beautifully evoke everyday heroism in times of war and peace. Combining poetic observation and humanism with a subtle yet intense national feeling that is also very personal, Jennings was a visionary and progressive patriot.

The First Days gathers 14 short films from the period 1934-1940 and provides a fascinating insight into Jennings' earliest days as a filmmaker, learning and developing his craft. It features the critically acclaimed Spare Time (1939), a memorable portrait of the inter-war working class made for the New York World Fair in 1939, and the rousing London Can Take It! (1940), accompanied by its alternative cut Britain Can Take It! This, the most renowned cinematic representation of the resilient heroism of ordinary Londoners during the early days of the Blitz, features iconic images of St Paul's Cathedral, the Palace of Westminster and the royal family. There are also previously neglected works, many of which will be available for the first time since their original release.

I don't even know what to say regarding that news.
an absolute travesty.
I'm very depressed now, as that is certainly the last thing these labels needed to have happen.
wonder if Eureka was stored there also.

According to MoC twitter, they did have stock there as well

And apparently so did Artificial Eye.

So does anyone have any news of why Fun At St. Fanny's / You Lucky People (Adelphi Collection Vol. 4) has been cancelled? I just received my notice from Amazon UK that they were told by the distributor (presumably BFI) that this item had been cancelled. Can anyone shed any light on this as I have rather enjoyed the other Adelphi volumes.

was that a bd only release or a dual format?
if bd only, it might have been cancelled to make room for a dual format relaese instead.

I'm almost positive it was a dual format release. It was part of my pre-order for all the August/September BFI's and as far as I can remember they were all dual format releases.

Default Deep End-3 Disc Collectors Edition

Just as a matter of information, at this late date there still are some reasonably priced copies of the BFI DEEP END-3 Disc Collectors Edition out there on-line at various retailers. (I can't beleive what their asking for on the Amazon.uk site!!!)
I've ordered this from Zavvi.com for 13.85 BP's ($22.36) They also have the 2-disc edition as well which is about a pound less.

I have the 3-discer. Well worth going for as the Jane Asher/John Moulder-Brown interview is excellent.

Hope you enjoy this special release

Not the really the right thread for this question, but since you're talking about the site. Has anyone ever used paypal on zavvi? I've been wanting to place an order using paypal since Monday, but it doesn't work.
Keep getting an error message that says "Sorry, we were unable to authorise your PayPal payment. Please choose a different payment option or try again later." It doesn't even ask my paypal information or go to the paypal site like other stores using paypal do.

From what I've heard, it looks like they have been switched to separate DVD-only releases: The BFi had found that the audience for this series was mostly older, nostalgia buffs, who were happy enough with DVD copies, and the BD take-up was too small for it really to justify dual format releases.
