I'm in the same situation zavvi cancel my order, asda-entertainment also cancel my order for this limited edition. I'm dissapointed. I don't want to pay 24 pound in amazon to get this release...

My zavvi.com order was also cancelled due to supplier issues.I may just opt to get the 2-disc version rather than go through all the hassle again at some other retailer. By the way, I too couldn't use Paypal on Zavvi either.

Charnier alluded to this on the Eureka/MoC thread, concerning their Naruse DVD box set.

I already own the BFI Naruse DVD set, but wondered if it will become OOP as well, due to the Sony warehouse fire?

The French Gaumont release is probably my favourite Blu-ray. I'll be keen to pick this up too should there be a decent amount of extras.

Little Malcolm and His Struggle Against the Eunuchs pre-order

Quote:
A mesmerising performance from John Hurt is at the centre of this chillingly dark comedy about delusional, Hitlerian revolutionary Malcolm Scrawdyke, leading his devoted followers Wick, Irwin and Nipple in a battle against an unseen nemesis. The film was financed by Beatle George Harrison, and is based on the play by David Halliwell that was first staged by Mike Leigh. Filmed on location in a bleak, wintry Oldham by director Stuart Cooper (Overlord; The Disappearance) and cinematographer John Alcott (2001; A Clockwork Orange).

Special Features:

• Dual Format Edition: includes both the Blu-ray and the DVD of the film and the extras.
• New High Definition restoration.
• Put Yourself in My Place (Francine Winham, 1974, 21 mins): Comedy starring Judy Geeson in which a husband and wife change roles.
• The Contraption (James Dearden, 1977, 8 mins): Experimental comedy short.
• llustrated booklet featuring essays, credits and biographical information.

Has the release of Before the Revolution been pushed back? Amazon, HMV say 22nd of August, but then Moviemail, Play are saying 29th of August now.

Yes - because of the Sony DADC fire.

Yeah just seen this statement on another forum.

Quote:
Just a quick note to say that the films originally due for release next Monday (the 22nd), including Before the Revolution have had their official release dates moved by a week to the 29th to allow for repressing stock following the Sony DADC fire.

However, some retailers, including Amazon, HMV and MovieMail, already had stock in, so it's highly likely that they'll ship as if the release date was still the 22nd - the BFI certainly isn't going to discourage them from doing so.

Off the top of my head, the affected titles are Before the Revolution, Molly Dineen Volume 2: The Ark and the two latest Adelphi titles, Fun at St Fanny's and You Lucky People!.

This is quite irritating as these have been out on Blu-ray in Japan for a couple of years already. I don't understand what is preventing BFI from being able to release any Kurosawa on Region B BD.

If BFI doesn't get around to releasing these on blu...gotta believe they'll eventually get the blu treatment by Criterion at some point.
