watched it tonight, thought it looked flawless. i do still quite like the contrasty 'look' of the first bfi blu-ray, though in motion it's not even a contest as the new one is completely solid--was fun to go back and compare them, though.
+ also, not a big deal but noticed there's an error with the subs at around 1:02:00, a couple of the words are mixed up. |

Their art, in house and documentary releases are usually region free but feature films tend to be constrained by licensee requirements. Previous Woodfall Films blu-rays were region B locked so it's probably safe to assume Mademoiselle will be.

So I got curious about whether Friendship's Death might be in stock anywhere, since it was supposed to come out on the 15th and nothing happened with it being shipped to me, and came upon a revised release date at Amazon of 7 December (matching the release date at BFI's shop).
Almost cancelled it because of the long wait, but then I remembered that I ordered it when base still had a shipping rate of £1.69, so may as well just wait it out. |

Yeah they're including a feature-length doc on Richard Burton on a second disc it seems. I was wondering why it was a higher price than the other titles announced alongside it, and assumed they would announce some big extras on a second disc. I'm just glad to get more Lumet on BD!

Pretty confident that Lumet Guardian Lecture will be identical to the one on The Deadly Affair, although the Amazon listing says 1981 rather than 1983 despite them being the same length and being moderated by Derek Malcolm. Wonder how long as a 3000 unit LE it'll stick around? Spetters is still around after half a year and I feel there will be a mixture of people either interested by the play, or put off by the subject matter. Not seen any other title specs added besides The Good Die Young (Gilbert definitely didn't die young, maybe he's bad?) and The Guinea Pig. The most notable extras on these are the export version and Not Like Any Other Director: Lewis Gilbert (1995 NFT interview), otherwise it's more archival films. Under Night Streets sounds interesting and is only in 240p on YouTube so sounds like a nice inclusion Last edited by CelestialAgent; 06-25-2020 at 07:09 PM. |

Has anyone actually been able to log in? For the last 24 hours or so, I've been getting a "The account sign-in was incorrect or your account is disabled temporarily. Please wait and try again later." message.

With BFI's OOP Twilight Time-MGM releases on a roll, I'd love to see releases of "Lenny" and "Lilies of the Field".

I second that I would love if the BFI were to double dip with Lillies of the Field which is one of the Twilight Time films I regret missing out on the most.
