L'âge d'or definitely seems to be on its way out - not at BFI, pulled from BFI player, Amazon's stock has gone. Good shout on SimplyHE - probably running down old stock.

Yes, I did see that — problem is I'm in the States, so shipping winds up being literally the price of the thing itself (i.e. £10). I could've had it shipped to a London friend of mine and had them post it to me through Royal Mail, but honestly, it would've been too much of a hassle to save, all told, a few bucks. So I went ahead and bit the bullet at SimplyHE (with the 10% code).

Question: SimplyHE's stock is generally new, yes? As in not second-hand?

Yes, SimplyHE should be new stock and not second-hand, just like Amazon.

Yes, as minister X stated it is all new stock,of the four or five BFI releases i've bought from them they were all in original cellophane wrapping and not reseals, they can take a while to dispatch items though.

The title is definitely OOP.

Wow, did I do a spit take when I saw your message. But just as I suspected, tried the code and it doesn't work for US addresses. I would've really been kicking myself knowing I'd missed out on dodging the 100% mark-up that came with international shipping.

And Short Sharp Shocks for November, a new Flipside title that sounds very interesting:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08HB68CHP

I only wish Panic was on there, but I've wanted The Lake for years.

I hope they continue with the old clear cases. If they switch to Scanavo's (like the majority of their new releases), it will seriously mess with my OCD. Also, I'll have to buy them immediately because of the limited booklets.

It’s been confirmed but not dispatched, however I’ve never used Simply before. Do people have positive experiences?

I'll post here if I get a dispatch mail. I won't be crushed if this one slips thru my fingers, I have the old BFI DVD set, which I'm sure looks far more ragged in comparison, but it's a set I've rarely delved into in all the years I've had it - usually, when a Dali fixation takes hold. I think I'm smarting more from missing the Rossellini/Bergman set mentioned in the posts above - that looks like it's pretty much dried up for good...

I've only used them once - the Almodóvar box set, which was only £17 odd. Came in a jiffy but was unscathed. Haven't used them since as their prices are ludicrous - they're the sort of company that puts leaflets in the Radio Times encouraging old people to pay Blu-ray prices for old DVD tat.

Be prepared for fortnightly mailings of their paper catalogue, along with mountains of junk mail inserts!

As i stated in a previous post i've bought a few BFI Flipside titles at reasonable prices from them and sometimes waited weeks for a dispatch but they have always arrived.
Regarding L'Age d'Or i wouldn't be surprised if they cancel any orders because they don't seem to update the website very often (still showing in stock last time i looked) and being OOP surely they can't source the stock from anywhere, hope i'm wrong for the people who have ordered it.
