Same. I'm waiting for ROOM AT THE TOP.

I don't know what's more irritating, HMV having insufficient stock ready for the sale or Amazon only price matching HMV's in-stock items

I think the main issue is the "La Haine 4K Blu-ray" product title, not so much the text of the post.

Oh it gets worse.

On? So everyone at the BFIs home video department thinks they are putting out a 4K native disc/UHD?

I'm sure the people directly involved on this release know what they're putting out, but clearly, those handling the marketing of it aren't being accurate enough.

ok well that doesn't happen often, got an email this morning that penda's fen is back in stock.

also got room at the top, orphee, and sunday bloody sunday. that follows my initial hastily made order of vivre sa vie and the trilogy of life.

really good for £53, i've missed offers like this.

I've already had a wee civil back and forth with some department manager on Facebook. I think after I made him aware how FUBAR this is, he's divorced himself of any responsibility for it. I don't blame him.

And they've corrected it. Good job BFI.

I assume those who own the BFI release of 'When The Wind Blows', their Blu Ray case is clear? I ordered it as part of the sale on Amazon, but the case they sent me is blue. Yes, I know it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but whenever I have half a dozen other BFI releases and they all have clear cases, it's annoying.

It’s clear

See the Arrow thread for their issue with cases

Cheers CA, assumed it was clear, and yes, Arrow's issue I had thought of when I received it. Though having said that, I've had bad luck with 'New' things from Amazon, had 4 things I ordered recently from them, supposedly New, but were obviously 2nd hand/returns and repackaged/resealed, so that was another reason I thought of.

The BFI just announced that "Cry of the City" is to be deleted on Nov 30th. I just grabbed myself a copy from ebay. I imagine it is because the Fox license has run out and Disney won't renew.

Anyway, if you have been hesitating, don't hesitate any longer!

It’s a little light on extras, but the Adrian Martin commentary is a very good listen and the booklet has some nice pieces.

What are people’s favourite shorts to appear on a BFI release or BFI Player?

Un chien andalou is a very obvious one

Some of the Free Cinema shorts are worth seeking out

https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/...nd-1953-online

https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/...et-1962-online

https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/...nd-1959-online

Ken Loach’s Talk about Work

https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/...rk-1971-online

Discomania (on Hair) is very dated, but an absolute blast because of how 70s it is. Double feature with Saturday Night Fever?

https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/...ia-1979-online

I just watched a couple today. When the Pie was Opened is surprisingly inventive and surrealistic (and actually quite dark) for a MOI film.

https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/...ed-1941-online

Early Women Filmmakers has some gems, like Falling Leaves, and The Sick Kitten is adorable! The Innocents has two really interesting ones, The Bespoke Overcoat, Naples is a Battlefield. The Jarman sets are worth it just for some of the obscure shorts, like 21st Century Nuns.

https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/...ns-1994-online

Some good ones that are streaming but I’m not sure are on disc: Players, Dog Years, Prelude, Uki, Journey, Dear Margery Boobs, The Pecking Order, The Dirt Inside, Ladder to You, Internet Story.

Plenty early silents on there also, very interesting.

The Adventures of Prince Achmed has Dr. Dolittle and the festive The Star of Bethlehem and biblical The Lost Son; La Belle et la Bête has a lovely animation

One of my favourite short films (not just on BFI but in my whole collection) is The Bespoke Overcoat on The Innocents release, if i ever get round to importing the Criterion release for the improved PQ, there is no way i will ever sell the BFI version, just to keep this gem in my collection.

Hunh.

I guess I was assuming it had gone OOP at the end of July, along with many (if not all) of their other titles Fox titles. Well, I already have it in any event. The only Fox title of theirs on blu-ray that I don't have is The Leopard. The only one on DVD that I don't have (and want) is Frank Borzage Volume 1.

I don't know where you are based but the BFI release of The Leopard is listed on Amazon UK (marketplace seller) at the moment for a very reasonable price, they probably won't have many copies because i'm sure this has been OOP for a few months.
