That one is possibly my pick for worst film of the set, that or Matador. At least Lock Your Door had some vague resemblance to a horror story, even if it was completely overplayed and clumsy. I honestly think he had a stroke halfway through telling the story and then came up with that load of old bollocks. The ravings of a madman, which is fitting.
It was like watching a sober Rowley Birkin Q.C... for 13 very long and pointless minutes.

Here's hoping disc 2 is better.
To me the first disc are Curios and I've added two more Merton Park Studios productions to my collection.

I'd pay dearly for a HD complete collection of Merton Park Studios output.

For some reason amazon.co.uk says it won't ship the BFI release of Polanski's Tess to me. I'm able to get most other BFI-releases from the same sale to use my address, but not Tess. Any idea why?

BTW I am located in Norway.

Thanks

Third party seller? Some geo-restrict sales.

Found it on the BFI website for £10 cheaper so ordered it there, and still 4 weeks to be delivered. Though probably lockdown 2.0 didn't help in BFI's case.

In short, it's been a two month saga.
Any movement? I might just stop worrying about having potentially overpaid and just unbox what I ordered

Nothing yet - though with lockdown lifting on Wednesday potentially more staff coming in then?

Besides the episodes listed, does anyone know if any other Play for Today episodes have been released on DVD/BD at all?

Nice to see Hay On Wye represented in all it's 1970s splendor on Disc 2 of Volume 1 of the BFI Blu of Play For Today in the story 'Back of Beyond'.

It's finally been shipped, after following up 2x since the last reply I got from them, which was in November.

I just want to praise Play For Today Volume 1

What a delightful little collection that was. Each play had it's own merits individually with some very clever writing.

The Photograph was particularly delicious in it's conclusion. It was like Agatha Christie meets Roald Dahl.

L'Age d'Or is on sale in the brick and mortar stores again, but I didn't get it as it was slightly too expensive for me at around £15.

For an OOP title only available in a few remaining HMVs it’s a great price

Has anyone bought the BFI DVD edition of Scrooge/A Christmas Carol?
https://shop.bfi.org.uk/scrooge-a-ch...carol-dvd.html
I can't find any screen captures from it anywhere which doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
It also doesn't help that it was only put on DVD.

With the claim; "Fully restored 2K transfer from the original film elements" one would think the BFI site would post a couple pics.

It's not a BFI release: they restored it but Renown released it.

I bought it to compare to the American Blu-ray, but I couldn't see much difference, to be honest. There's a recent German release which is only 9 Euros:

Thanks, James.
It would have cost me a lot to Import the DVD to Canada and I already have all the VCI blu ray releases up to the 60th Diamond Edition.
The film deserves better treatment than it's given so far.

I wonder how that German release looks.
