Just been told by Ben Stoddart in the BFI Facebook group that this Flipside is OOP so it can be re-released WITHOUT the extras, presumably the trailer will remain but definitely NOT the 2 short films, which are deleted, or the booklet(?).

This is what Ben Stoddart said, in answer to my question of which Flipside titles were OOP:

Quote:
It's only a few: Joanna, The Party's Over and Privilege (but as mentioned, that will be re-issued without the extras). A few are currently being looked at for renewal so there's a chance a couple more could go. I can't confirm those at the moment though. If any more are deleted I'll be posting something on this page about it to let people know.
Basically he said that if you have NOT got the Watkins film then get ANY BD copy you can before prices rocket etc.

Just remembered that Ben Stoddart also said the following in responce to either of the two Arnols L Miller titles being OOP. A While ago, I think someone on here said one of them was OOP.

Quote:
Nope. London in the Raw and Primitive London are both still in print either as Dual Format editions or DVD only.

That Facebook group is a lifesaver and Stoddart seems like a really nice person

Want to order The Party's Over from Amazon but unsure what to pair it with for free delivery

I agree. He even told me the following (part of a longer reply), in answer to a question about the Peter Watkins film.

If you struggle to find a copy of it, I do have some in my office. If I’m ever allowed back I’ll check and try and help you out.

Don’t suppose you can send a link? Is it just the generic BFI page on FB?

Do BFI offer replacement discs? Just got hold of a brand new copy of Revolution but it skips, freezes and gives read errors. There's a define blue tint to the data side.

I hope it's the same height as Indicator's Paramount set.

Guess I'll find out tomorrow when mine arrives.

It’s a gorgeous set, really lovely.

I hadn’t seen any packaging shots before it arrived so wasn’t expecting anything as lavish as it’s turned out being.

Highest compliment I can give it is that it won’t look out of place next to the Indicator set at all!

I loved Deep End and then realised the editor was working in my uni at the time and asked him to sign my copy and had a very long chat with him. Actually a very nice guy.

I wanted to know if the packaging is different from the other BFI box sets that I own: flimsy slipboxes with slim cases.

the bfi's dietrich set is like a blend of criterion and indicator's approaches, in terms of design. nice to see they put that much of an effort in their release, too.

To me the packaging exactly mirrors recent Indicator boxsets.
If you have Fu Manchu or Columbia Noir 1 you know what to expect.
