Oh here we go again! Another title I'm highly anticipating that starts to get heavily delayed (remember Eyes Without a Face and Rashomon, for example).

I just got the mail from Amazon. I may as well just cancel the preorder for now! It’s looking like one of those titles.

I’ll definitely reorder this one if it actually does become concrete!

From Ben Stoddart on Facebook:

Quote:
As some will have already noted, our release of Peter Bogdanovich's Targets has moved back to summer 2022. Put simply, there is a brand new restoration being done and we have no control as to the timeline for its completion. We want to release the best possible version of this much requested film, and I'm sure fans want the same. Rest assured that the film will be released by the BFI. Delays are always disappointing but we appreciate your patience and understanding.
As suspected and the right decision.

Specifically one more this year, and two hopefully next year. Considering the quality of the three already announced, I'm betting they'll be similarly great!

Isn't Nashville a Paramount film?

Would love for this to be the rumoured 4K UHD.

It is! BFI did the cinema rerelease in June (to about 25 screens), but that doesn't indicate they're going to release a Blu-ray (like with Pandora's Box) - it's quite likely Paramount will retain the rights for themselves like in the US.

It'd be fantastic if they've managed to get Panic for inclusion on Short Sharp Shocks Vol. 2.

Well at least Nashville has had plenty of BD exposure already, and in very high class editions. Shed a mystified tear, then, for A Wedding, an Altman film I personally much prefer (and the Bolcom opera based on it) - available nowhere in HD and never has been, despite tales of a 4K restoration Fox themselves undertook several years ago, but which has never to the best of my semi-vigilant knowledge fetched up anywhere at all.

Yeah, I'd rather a blu of A Wedding than a Nashville reissue, but a 4K transfer would probably have me buying it again.

If they're releasing more Paramount, I wonder what the chances are for The Assassination Bureau - the Australian disc has a commentary by 'Vic Pratt of the BFI and Kim Newman'. Does that make it more likely, or does this often happen? (Pardon my lack of knowledge on this sort of thing!)

Don't want to take a chance on import costs for this if the BFI have it.

The BFI is a charitable organisation with different sectors - film restoration and preservation (National Archive), production (BFI Film Fund), distribution, streaming service (BFI Player), film festivals (BFI LFF, Flare, Future Film Festival), publishing (BFI Film Classics, Sight and Sound, website), education (BFI Film Academy), cinemas (BFI Southbank and IMAX), Blu-ray and DVD (BFI Video), National Library, Film & TV Database.

So it doesn't mean anything. Similarly plenty of films funded by the BFI aren't distributed by them.

Came onto this thread for an update on this.
Never seen the film but always wanted to.
The wait continues I suppose.

I saw it was back showing on Film4 for the first time in decade or something, would be ecstatic if the BFI released it on Blu.

Not sure it's something people care tremendously about in this thread, but Polytechnique arrived from Rarewaves with its booklet.

It's such a recent release I would be shocked if there wasn't a booklet.

It's not unheard of e.g. within a few of weeks of the release of Bait some were getting without a booklet.
