And that's tipped me over the edge to not wait and place an order.

Same here, thanks. Will gift my unopened Kino. Anyone tested region B on that disc? The entry here says untested.

Same here. Ordered from HMV via ebay - could have got it cheaper from rarewaves with a code, but couldn't guarantee it wouldn't arrive in a plastic bag.

The windmill briefly seen in the Dutch scenes was near Boston, Lincolnshire standing in for Holland: one of my uncles lived in and restored it, though by that time the sails had long been taken down and were too expensive to restore.

Had mine ordered online from HMV but pre-ordered so long ago the payment failed; so I decided to walk into town today and pick one up instore... only they hadn't received any.

Must be another Archers fan in town as someone before had ordered a copy instore, as I did today.

Just did the same, as I had £5 of Nectar points I could use. Was gonna get from Amazon but figured if it's a thin card slipcase so went with HMV instead (less likely to arrive damaged).

Yeah I had to jump on this too! BFI has become one of my favorite labels! I love their releases!

I think I missed something. Every BFI release I own has a booklet. No matter when you bought a copy, it was always included. I love that about their releases. I just noticed that they included "limited booklet with first pressing" with their discriptions. Since when is that? Not only with limited releases, but with every release. They are going the Arrow route! Older releases seems to have booklets still.

Today I bought the Short Sharp Shocks vol1 with Amazon. It was releases last year. Is there any knowing a booklet will be included? Or is it just a gamble, like with Arrow? It's a shame really. With all that limited stuff with every company, you have to act fast. I'm glad Masters of Cinema still include a booklet no matter when you buy a copy.

Since 2019.

Best bet is to buy within a year of release or ask on the Facebook group. Or check HMV or eBay copies.

Think the booklet for Short Sharp Shocks is gone now.

Thank you. I noticed it when I bought Funeral Parade of Roses, but that was a limited edition. I noticed it today it's limited with every new release. So now you have to be quick with BFI as well. Good to know. But I'm certainly not a fan of it.

I bought Farewell My Concubine & The Caretaker recently and neither had booklets. I think it depends on popularity. Some probably have booklets longer than some others.

I'm not a fan of it. Means that when they do their quarterly or monthly announcements, I quite often want 5-10 of their releases and can't realistically factor all of those into my budget, meaning I may miss out on booklets for at least a few of them.

For example I wanted I Start Counting but prioritised the Dietrich set and Radio On over it, and apparently it has been a strong seller, so the copy on its way to me now it has dropped under £10 may not come with a booklet (bit of a risk ordering it online rather than waiting for an HMV sale, to check instore if it has a booklet or not).

Similarly a lot of people missed out on the booklet for Bait as it was an unusually popular title for BFI and the first print run sold so quickly the stock got mixed with a second print run with no booklet, so people who pre-ordered it even got no booklet. I was too slow on the Pet Shop Boys film and that LE sold out so quickly I didn't even realise, so now the only option is the standard edition with no booklet.

It's basically similar to the Arrow issue, but at least BFI are a bit better at giving people the heads-up whether a title is selling particularly quickly (on their Facebook group). Some titles I won't take any chances with so just pre-order them, just in case, but also see that as my way of encouraging such releases (I generally do the same with other labels like Indicator and MoC, not often Arrow anymore though as their pre-order prices are getting too steep).

Ah yeah, that was a one-off where they failed to produce a booklet in time for its release for some reason. Can't remember why but they did apologise.

Booklet wise certain historically important titles like the German Concentration Camps Factual Survey doc should ALWAYS/PERMANENTLY have a booklet.

Though evidently not to the point that you looked at the cover, the disc or the booklet, all of which tell you fairly clearly that it's a Studio Canal release on their Vintage Classics label....
