I really hope you are wrong on this one. Yesterday I ordered I Start Counting, Sharp Short Shocks vol 1 and Madchen in Uniform. I Start Counting was around 16 pounds on amazon. It dropped to 11,74 so I bought it yesterday. It is my most wanted BFI at the moment. It's not even a year old so I sure hope it has a booklet. I prefer this one over the US Fun City edition.

I'm too lazy and time strapped to go through all the posts here but does the BFI edition of Naked include Bleak Moments or is it solely a seperate purchase?

They are separate releases.

Watched one of our aircraft is missing last night. It was very good PQ for a film of that age, good extras and packaging . It had likeable characters, a decent film given that it was a propaganda film made during the war. However it did make "Secret Army" look like a realistic documentary. Won't go into details because can't find the spoiler button.

I bought a few BFI titles that had dropped in price on Rarewaves, and they all came with booklets. For anyone interested, I got: I Start Counting, My Beautiful Launderette, A Month in the Country, Madchen in Uniform, Scandal, and The Guinea Pig.

Mine haven't arrived yet but I did get a 'Something for you...' card from Royal Mail, which I assume is a record I ordered from Rarewaves at the same time as these...hopefully one of them shows up tomorrow. I'm mainly concerned about I Start Counting to be honest!

It’s a lovely edition of the film. A great package overall. Love the books and the cardboard slip case. The BFI have done a great job.

The picture quality is miles better than anything I’ve seen before. It’s a bit rough in places but overall very nice.

And some nice extras including a commentary.

Overall a decent release and one I’m glad I’ve got in my collection.

Does anyone know of a good place to buy BFI sets from the US? Amazon's shipping is way too high.

Zavvi shipping is more reasonable, flat 10 quid for several items.

If you're buying a lot, deff.com works out very well. Shipping will be high, but you'll get it fast via DHL. Like, two days fast. And it will be packed well. And their customer service is actually very good. I import large orders from them regularly.

Obviously, using the same master, there doesn't appear to be an uptick visually from the Olive release - yes, there's some damage evident but overall the presentation is very good, sometimes excellent. One big change is that the BFI disc defaults to subtitling all the German and Dutch dialogue (there are English subtitles available on the Olive release but German and Dutch is not translated). It's odds on that German and Dutch was not subtitled theatrically, so the BFI release let's you watch the film without any subs at all.

Btw, it does appear to be region free.

I think you are right about the translation, and even mentioned in the production notes, that the germans were deliberately not translated, because the film is mostly from the escaping raf personal point of view.

I liked this film quite a lot, one of the best films hadn't seen before.

I got an email from Amazon re: Bergman Vol. 2 set on Saturday. I was expecting somebody here to mention it, but as not I'll go first...

"Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below was changed by the supplier, and we need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date based on the new release date:

"Ingmar Bergman Vol.2 [Blu-ray]"
Estimated arrival date: November 03 2021"

Anybody else?

I'm assuming this is a release date change and not an Amazon supply issue (from the wording of the email.

The BFI shop now lists the release date as 29th October.

The Seventh Seal UHD has been pushed back to 1st November. I think they were both originally going to be released 18th October

BFI Distribution have acquired the film All My Friends Hate Me which just had its UK premiere at the London Film Festival, for a 2022 release. Screen Daily also says the BFI are releasing La Mif.

I expect this means there might be a Blu-ray to follow also.

https://www.screendaily.com/news/all...164147.article

Also, per the Facebook group, an Adelphi Films title with Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan and Harry Secombe has fallen OOP.

My four BFI titles arrived and all with booklets: I Start Counting, Madchen in Uniform, Play On! and even Short Sharp Chocks had a booklet.
