Why not Parade, though?

I think it was shot on video, so I wouldn't expect it to look great.

I'd love more Tati on blu-ray. Mon Oncle is such a beautiful film, it's crying out for a good BD transfer.

Then again laptops with BD are becoming affordable, just got one bymyself.

I use Macs, there's little to no chance of them ever having a Blu-ray drive unfortunately.

According to amazon BFI have changed the date for Battleship Potemkin it's now coming November 5th.

Cría Cuervos has also changed release March 18, 2013

That's a big difference in release date. I wonder why? The transfer is definitely ready, as I saw it at the BFI last year. How disappointing!

MichaelB or Pro-B:

I noticed that Masters of Cinema is releasing Ozu's "Floating Weeds". I was lead to believe that BFI was releasing ALL of his films and am a bit disappointed, that this will be left off their list (unless I'm mistaken and they plan to release it anyway?)

I've also noticed that the next BFI release of his "Gangster Films" has a release date of December on Zavvi and next April on Amazon. Can you verify which release date is more accurate?

Thank You!

BFI has the rights to the 32 Shochiku Ozu films. Not the Daiei or Toho releases. (Floating Weeds is from Daiei, End of Summer is from Toho.

Thanks very much for the heads up on that...hadn't thought about the difference in studios.

I wonder who will release End of Summer? Hopefully I won't have to buy the Criterion Eclipse set to add it to my collection.

By my count then, they have 8 remaining films to announce.

Tokyo Chorus 1931
Passing Fancy 1933
A Story of Floating Weeds 1934
The documentary Kagami jishi from 1935
An Inn in Tokyo 1935
Record of a Tenement Gentleman 1947
The Munekata Sisters 1950
The Flavor of Green Tea over Rice 1952

They've currently released or announced 24 separate titles, making 32 total

According to wikipedia there is also surviving fragments of Fighting Friends Japanese Style from 1929, but they're obviously not including this or the fragments from I Graduated, But... and A Straightforward Boy in their final count.

Does anyone have any idea if we'll see any of those remaining titles on Blu-ray, or if it'll just be DVD from here on? I assume the later films have more chance of making it to Blu.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's all DVD only but I sure hope it isn't. From the look of the DVDs, I was sure that Tokyo Twilight was good enough for HD but the BFI decided otherwise. It's quite clear that no one else is willing to release something like the Artificial Eye Mizoguchi set in this current climate.

Is Small Time by Shane Meadows likely to get a Blu-ray release? I watched it on Film4 a couple of nights ago and thought it was decent enough.
