Somebody call the police because the BFI keep stealing the show. The label to beat right now. Amazing news and I am THRILLED about the Bressons. Burning An Illusion is a great addition too.

Very happy to see not just one or two but three Bresson titles. I had a feeling they had Pickpocket but great to see them do The Trial of Joan of Arc too and especially L'Argent (assumed Criterion might do these for the UK if BFI hadn't got them). Will be picking those up as soon as I can! Also Schrader on the Pickpocket disc...

Also very keen to see what Kuhle Wampe is like, I imagine like Mädchen in Uniform it'll be a very interesting glimpse into the German consciousness. Will also definitely get that sooner rather than later. Burning an Illusion and Mary, Queen of Scots have my attention, two to get in future offers probably (if I'm honest). All My Friends Hate Me looks like it could be funny too, has a couple of the cast from Stath Lets Flats which I very much enjoyed.

Two more DVDs to clear out with The Trial of Joan of Arc and Mary Queen of Scots, though I’m not complaining!

Yeah I have the old AE DVD of Pickpocket somewhere, can happily sell it on now (once I find it)! I might even have Joan of Arc, come to think of it...

Slight shame they didn't do a mini box set but I suppose they figured people may either of the Criterion discs and wouldn't commit to the set. Oh well, can't complain! I already own all other Bresson titles on UK BD.

Incredible month, those BFI Bergmans are so tempting but I've had to force myself to stop at Vol 1 to avoid crossover with the criterion set.

Me too, though I was tempted by Vol. 2 as I heard a couple of them are using better restorations than the Criterion (and better encoded too). Plus the extras...but no, I'll stick with the Criterion as it has some unique films that BFI couldn't get. Still nice sets though!

Oof. Amazing lineup. In for all three Bresson, Mary, Queen of Scots, and the Get Carter 4K.

As it is cheaper and easier to import from rarewaves than from the US despite the pound sterling, the announcements make me very happy. Will definitely be getting Pickpocket and L'argent.

I'm glad they're not in a set; I only need Joan of Arc and it's not looking likely that any extras will be added to the other two to make me double dip. Though what would be interesting is a set focused on depictions of Joan of Arc in cinema - I'm not sure there's another figure who has been adapted by so many great directors as well as whose story has been bent and twisted to fit the context of the domestic political situation of the time (I'm specifically thinking of the De Mille WWI-set Joan the Woman and the Nazi film). Dreyer's reigns supreme, but Rivette's is also tremendous. I really want to see La merveilleuse vie de Jeanne d'Arc

Are the Bergman sets of use for anyone who has the Criterion Bergman box?

You can count me in that bracket of buyers - own the Criterion Pickpocket.
I know boxsets can be cost effective and an easy way of shifting lesser known titles, but as someone who is averse to double-dipping (with the rare exception) I'm glad they opted for the singular releases.
