Comrades is the best British film of the 80s, a sublime work.

EDIT: 90s should of course have been 80s

I've honestly not seen it, just watched the trailer it looks excellent, so I'll probably order it next week when I get paid.

Finally nabbed LES VACANCES DE M. HULOT! Oddly, it came up on a Google shopping search at MovieMars.com for $18 - but without many details nor a cover image. Took the chance, along with a 10% code, and it arrived today! Such a good movie and really too bad the BFI has lost it. Not to say SC can't do good work, but I guess I just dig the BFI.

Lost it? Do you mean they lost the rights?

I agree with you, it's a wonderful movie and I'm very happy with the release. Although ... a few years back, one of the smaller DVD houses here in Australia did a wonderful package of four Tati films, based on recent remasters that had been done in France. Each title came with a Tati short on the disc as well. I was hoping that might happen with the BD, or at least the BFI would release other titles like Mon Oncle and Jour de Fête, and either bundle the shorts with them, or do a fifth disc with the collected shorts.

Is this not to be?

That's OK...most of us do. . And I'm continuing to buy the Ozu films as they are being released...the entire set. A shame that they couldn't get the rights to Floating Weeds, as Masters of Cinema will be releasing it.

BFI have been doing a great job of restoring classic and vintage films like The Great White Silence and are working on the Everest documentary, which I am ecstatic about. The more we try to purchase their films, the more they can put into these great restorations.

I'm glad that MoC got it, if anyone besides BFI was going to get it.

Anyone know the approximate release date on the Ozu Ganster Films? I saw December from one of the Independant resellers, but I have it preordered on Amazon UK and it claims the release date is April 29, 2013?

Ah, thank you, bgart13.

I have both the BFI Tatis. Still have fingers crossed for a Blu Mon Oncle.

The BFI and Criterion haven't actually said their Tati releases are OOP but it was recently announced that StudioCanal had bought the worldwide rights, which presumably means they will be going OOP soon.

Battleship Potemkin is £10 on Amazon/HMV right now, and because I ordered it with the HMV 20% off a month or so ago i get it for £8

Cría Cuervos . . . is also a tenner on both sites.

Does anyone have any bonafide information, regarding the release date of the Ozu Ganster films. One independant distributor claims December and Amazon UK has it releasing next April...quite a discrepancy.

I did the same on the 20% HMV sale, when it was £12. Does this mean they automatically lower the price they charge if the price goes lower than when originally ordered?

I called up to make sure, he said afew days before it's released they amend all the prices to the lowest it was and apply the discount to that.
