I recall Bait, booklet wise, had sold out in pre-orders before it's BD release.

Think it was because the BFI only produced a 1,000 copies with booklets and even when pre-order sales were going crazy, so many more pre sold at the likes of Amazon and HMV, they didn't up the number, hence it was a lottery if you got a booklet even day 1.

BFI seem very unresponsive on this, unlike the likes of Indicator who are happy to flex edition sizes based upon pre-order volumes they are receiving.

So far I think Indicator has ONLY increased the LE of films twice being Night of the Demon & Scum with the latter taking years to sell out & the former being upper twice.

Per the Facebook group, You’re Human Like the Rest of Them is going OOP as they couldn’t renew everything or do a stripped down version (some of the films in the set are licensed from BBC and ITV).

I ended up getting a copy of the original Peter Watkins one (ie before they did the first dual format release) as the only ones I could find on sale were the 2nd dual format one with the alternate cover that was missing the spine number. This was when the Facebook group mentioned that it was going OOP & probably get re-issued without the short films.

I was so lucky to be able to get the dual format of privilege by chance on a French second hand store, it didn't contain the booklet. But I rather have the spine number, or else my OCD would have killed me.

If I ever see the original dual format one then I'll buy it & get rid of my copy of the original BD release.

I couldn't do it on my phone, but from my desktop, if drag the photo into the address bar, it pulls up a link that can be embedded with IMG tags. Not sure if that's how StarDestroyer did it though lol

Click on QUOTE to reply, then below the box click on 'manage attachments' and upload your photo. Still in the pop-up, right-click on the uploaded image and 'copy link address' and close the pop-up. Then, above the reply box click on the yellow square icon with the mountain in it and paste the url to attach the image to the post.

Insanely tedious bit of functionality.

No idea if a Blu-ray is in the works, but the BFI will release Venice/TIFF/LFF title Love Life, the latest film by Kôji Fukada, the director of Harmonium, dealing with a returning father and deafness/sign language, to UK/Irish cinemas on 15th September.

https://www.bfi.org.uk/news/love-lif...ion-uk-ireland

I watched Pretty Red Dress in Vue last week and can definitely recommend it for its exploration of masculinity and ambiguity of identity, and accidentally being a tribute to Tina Turner (she died after the film’s production and premiere.)

The BFI will release a documentary about the Scala cinema, featuring interviews with John Waters, Ben Wheatley, Mary Harron, Peter Strickland, Isaac Julien and Stephen Woolley, among others.

Very exciting. The FAB Press book (written by ex-staff member and co-director, Jane Giles) is a real thing of beauty, I've been lost in it for lengthy periods of time.

It'll be interesting to see how much screen time is given to Palace Video/Pictures; there's enough archive to cover an additional documentary, or a great package of extras (which the BFI will no doubt supply).

For US residents what's the best/least expensive way to buy BFI titles? BFI's Get Carter 4k looks like a real nice edition to have.

There are a few good US-based retailers whose prices you can check: DiabolikDVD.com, grindhousevideo.com, OrbitDVD.com, importcds.com. And also check Rarewaves.com, a British source that offers reasonable prices for American customers. These are all fine places to pre-order from as well.

Regarding the Get Carter 4K specifically, it seems only Grindhouse Video has it in stock at this point. Keep in mind that this is a limited edition and came out almost a year ago.
