Does anyone know if The Innocents is OOP? Amazon has only been selling from 3rd party sellers for a while now.

Lots of BFI Dual Formats (and DVDs) are in Play.com's Clearance sale. Lots under £10 (Ozu, Cassavetes), well worth checking out. Although it's DVD, the Kurosawa Crime Collection is pretty decently priced too, at under £20. If you see something you like, best to snap it up. I spent so long trying to whittle down what I wanted some titles I had in my basket vanished (Sunrise ).

Tokyo Story is £7.50 on Amazon right. Bargain you all should buy if you don't own it already.

I wish I had purchased aregion-free player a long time ago. Just watched A Hen in the Wind, the extra on An Autumn Afternoon blu-ray. Fantastic film. Anyone have any insight on how they filmed the stairs scene? It looked so realistic.

You've picked a very good Ozu film during his early period. And very atypical for what he would settle into later in his career.

I'll have to revisit it soon...I'll give you my insight, once I remember.

According to the Criterion Forums, it looks like we have another Flipside title coming on the 15th April. It says DVD, but the picture shows dual format, and as all the other releases were, I'm sure we can expect the same again, although some of these features might only be on the DVD:

These are the details:

The BFI have given me permission to leak a few details of their forthcoming DVD release on the Flipside label. This will come out on 15 April and will include, among other things, fully restored and cleaned-up versions of You’re Human Like the Rest of Them, Paradigm and Fat Man on a Beach; rare TV documentaries by Johnson on his novel The Unfortunates and his namesake Samuel Johnson; and a recently recovered b/w home video recording of his long-lost television play Not Counting the Savages.

Will Johnson fans be able to cope with so much excitement and activity at once?

It's nice to see a new title announced as all the other ones coming out are the ones delayed from last year due to the efforts to get the Tati's released, and we have known about them for a while

There was also talk a while back on the Criterion Forums about a title called What The Silent Censor Saw. There was a listing on the HMV website when it was working, but it wasn't available to order, and it'd be interesting to know what, if anything, is happening with it

On another website - http://www.britishsilents.co.uk/silent/, they said back in April 2012 that the BFI will be publishing a DVD of silent films which posed a problem for the BBFC in its early years, which is the title I mentioned above

Great to see more silent titles (Underground) on BD. I'll buy Stromboli, am fine with my Theorem DVD.

I'd love that one too, especially if they include the British silent doc that was on the Kino disc. Actually, now that they've gotten their act together, a Kino disc would be just as welcome as a BFI one.

The release of Underground (and its restoration) is to tie in with the 150th anniversary of the London Underground. So it's not an indication of any more Asquith releases though they would, of course, be welcome.

In addition to Stromboli, I'd like to see Journey to Italy, Open City, and Germany, Year Aero. These are available from Italy's Flamingo Video, but there isn't a lot of info available. For example, for their Journey to Italy, Amazon's info leads me to doubt whether it has English audio (the international release?). Does anyone know? Know anything about the quality of Flamingo's transfers?

Another Italian company, San Paolo, has Bicycle Thieves on Blu-ray.

I noticed a couple more Cassavetes due this year too (Opening Night and The Killing Of A Chinese Bookie). I'm guessing they were announced then delayed because of the Tati's, but I wasn't aware of them, so I'm pretty happy to hear it .

I was hoping that The Boy Who Turned Yellow might get a standalone Blu-Ray release due to it being Powell/Pressburger's final film. Sadly not...
