Oh damn. Is that the deal? I thought thst was just a general thing like Indicator have and was waiting for a proper sale like last year. Gutted, I was keeping my powder dry for this sale, but think I will skip.

Yes, I don’t know why but I was expecting a full sale like last year, this doesn’t feel that different from a general HMV/Fopp sale.

Huh? That's an awesome deal from what I'm seeing. The Skolimowski BD alone is £24 + on most sites! £25 for three titles is a great price, £5 postage be damned!

There's some good stuff in there, but sadly for EU users it's not a particularly good deal, because since they aren't IOSS registered, they usually take the VAT for international orders, and users pay them to the local customs.

But, in this promo, it's 3 for £25 for UK users, including VAT, and 3 for £25, excluding VAT, for international users. There's still a minimal discount compared to buying the titles individually, and taking the VAT off, but it's a small difference.

Hey not knocking them, I pay full price frequently as I don’t want them to go the way of Network! With sales for blind buys. However considering how infrequently BFI does sales - now there is one wich is effectively £30 for 3 (with postage) it doesn’t seem particularly enticing compared to others. But glad you’re happy and hope you get some good stuff. I buy too much full price really to justify spending in this sale

Helps if you live in London as the offer should apply at the BFI shop as well. Did last time & I'll have a look tomorrow.

Young Soul Rebels & Pretty Red Dress were last August, Targets was last September. Others on sale include Gregory's Girl, Bluebeard's Castle, Brannigan, Gothic - all of them released within the last 12 months.

Similar to The Eternal Daughter last year, Starve Acre (by the director of Apostasy) releases in cinemas on 6th September and on Blu-ray on 21st October - a full year after it premiered at LFF, with the Southbank/BFI Player season Roots, Rituals and Phantasmagoria tying in.

No sign of other recent theatrical releases like Silver Haze getting a disc.

I walked down to the South Bank earlier to see if the sale is on but sadly it was not.

You just have to ask as according to Ben on Facebook it should apply. I can't remember if the going OOP titles offer from a month or two ago applied in store or not as I don't recall Ben mentioning it & I forgot to ask.

Having said that I'd like to know what titles were going OOP 1-2 months ago as I can't remember what they are & never got round to getting them.

Used this chance to pick up a few things that were not exactly on my immediate wishlist, but that I eventually was going to get anyway, such as Alice and Prince Achmed. Also decided to start collecting Ozu besides those Two-by- and Three-by- boxes. In the end I could have gone for more, such as some Cassavetes and Skolimowski, but can't get everything.

Sorry to ask this one yet again, but does anyone know if the BFI shop's stock of Bluebeard's Castle includes the booklet (or, perhaps more constructively, has anyone in the UK received a copy from anywhere that didn't include it?).

I got a copy from HMV that didn’t include it so I returned it and got it from Amazon where it did.

I was a bit annoyed they included it in this offer cos it seems like there’s plenty of booklet copies left, yet on the Facebook group it seemed like it was about to sell out around New Year, IIRC? Still in print come May, I’m gonna take future stock updates with a grain of salt.

Had I known it would still be available I would’ve definitely ordered it from BFI Shop, along with The Eternal Daughter. Now I’m wondering if its even worth getting anything in this offer since they’ll all probably be £8 from HMV soon.

The BFI shop is usually very good at updating their listing when the first pressing is sold out. So when you see a booklet still mentioned in their listing, that usually means you will get one.

I asked about chances for getting a copy with a booklet in the BFI FB group a couple of months ago, because someone here mentioned getting a copy without one from somewhere else. I was told by Ben from BFI that while copies without booklet were now out (i.e. the second pressing), all copies at the BFI shop still came with one and that I would also have a good chance getting one from Amazon, since they had ordered a lot.

I ended up getting my copy (with booklet) from Amazon. If the BFI shop used the IOSS system, I would probably have ordered there instead.

You could write the BFI shop and ask them, if you want to be absolutely sure.

Thanks for the help - a copy of Bluebeard's Castle is arriving today from amazon (can always return it if booklet-bereft). Will report back.
