Hoping they don’t just show the DVD.
If that's the case, I'd love to see Pink narcissus released in HD.

I would bet on a US release before the UK, but BFI still releases a fair amount of queer cinema so definitely possible.

In the comments in the Facebook group post on Seven Samurai, Ben has said some DVD upgrades are coming but not any other 4K upgrades currently planned.

Was he referring to DVD upgrades of Kurosawa films? If so great news

I think they are seriously underestimating the demand for Kurosawa in 4K. At least Yojimbo and Sanjuro should also be upgraded to 4K.

As much as I'd appreciate any Kurosawa in UHD, it very well be that we're overestimating the demand for them...

Not Kurosawa specifically (unless I misread) but would certainly make sense

One of the greatest films of all time on 4K.
Nice. For some reason I never watched the Criterion blu I bought in 2010 so my last home format viewing was the BFI DVD in the early 2000s.

It’s almost 70 minutes long, a feature is by definition not a short.

Song of the Horse 4K next, please

I've been hoping for a Kurosawa box set. I think I'll skip this for now, but next year I will reconsider, maybe it's ok to dedicate a whole additional shelf to Kurosawa and get separate releases

By the way, Ben Stoddart over at the BFI FB group stated that no other Kurosawa UHDs are planned, only "some Blu-Ray upgrades".
