The monitor has zero affect on the quality of the capture. It has zero affect on the capture. Period.

I've seen posts from members that think that bigger monitors produce better quality captures too. It doesn't make any difference if you capture on a 19'' LCD monitor or an 60'' plasma, as long as the PC's resolution is the same it makes no difference.

You could plug a 100 different monitors into the same PC and each capture would be identical.

As someone with a properly calibrated panny plasma, I can confirm that the problem does not lie with LCDs, but with the disc itself (Fury).

Wait, there are people who think otherwise? Lol. This sort of transcends in-depth technical expertise and crosses over into the realm of pure common sense...

Anyone able to take a pic from Fury on the 4k video unlimited service?

I remember it being dark theatrically, but have not seen the disc for myself

The BD looks miles better to me.
This thread is all assuming one is right over the other with nothing to back it up.

You just showed up without reading the entire thread.

Not every movie mentioned in this thread has this problem. We are using the process of elimination to weed out ones that are okay.

You are a troll.

How so? It could have been a error with the DI was struck from the master? It could also be an issue with the master itself. I can tell you for the fact that the black crush did not exist for Fury theatrically.

People saying it was hobbled for the sake of 4K sales, is bs

Picked up the UK release of Fury today and unfortunately it also appears to have the same issue.

Funny I noticed that on my Panny plasma Fury UV and Fury BD look very similar in contrast. The BD doesn't seem to have the boosted brightness that I'm seeing on my 4K Sony TV. If I dial the brightness down 11 notches from 50 to 39 on the Sony, then the issue goes away. I've checked other BDs on the Sony and the black bars are black like they're supposed to be, but on Fury they are not true black. However it is black on the Sony 4K and the UV (and the calibration levels are the same). So that's why I wondered whether LCD displays might be part of the problem.

Now that is interesting, you have the x8 or x9 ips vs tn may be a variable

Can you clarify? I didn't understand what the abbreviations mean.

Doesn't affect the capture, but if the viewing monitor is LCD (like almost all are) then it affects how well blacks are displayed.
