That's assuming the studios have any interest in re-doing 2K DIs.

What benefit would it yield if the studios grab a 2K DI for a 4K release, be it Blu-ray or some other digital form? All of it are missed opportunities.
This list will be very useful in the future when 4K BDs become a reality. |

Anyway, GDT expressed that he was not interested in a conversion from the get-go because after having seen some other 3D converted feature films, that due to the *liberal* use of hyper-stereo on wide shots in order to create artificial depth between large objects, it gave the appearance of miniaturization and he was very concerned that a 3D conversion of Pacific Rim would diminish the size of the big robots and monsters…which actually was a quite valid concern. Because turned out, the most difficult job of the stereo CG guys at ILM was to avoid making couple hundred foot tall robots look like they were only 6 ft. tall. They will admit to this if any interviewer were to ask them. Even they (ILM) admit that some shots were more successful than others (granted they (and GDT) may be a bit more perfection-oriented than some theater-goers. But that’s good, right? |

Is there a site or a video to explain what a Digital Intermediate is or how it works?
I have a clueless friend who has no idea of its importance . Or is there a documentary hidden in one of the Blu-rays that explains this? |

It's similar to how a piece of paper is scanned by a copier or scanner. The difference is that a DI is much more meticulous and takes much longer.

Well, all these are linked to the website, which then links to Amazon for purchase. So if I wanted to get the 3D version of The Amazing Spider-Man, I can do so without navigating through too many pages. It's an enhanced list if I might say so.

This. I've also had many people tell me they'd rather see all of the different SKUs in one place without having to scroll down a page like you have to with our search.
