Actually was able to land passes due to cancellations and i enjoyed this film very much so. It did remind me of die hard but in a good way in the sort of the first 3 films. You see alot of deaths in the film which i like. Alot of patirotism in the film led to alot of cheers in my theatre which is always a good thing when a crowd is into a film so much they cheer. I went in thinking this could be good and walked out pleased definately was better than i expected.

4/5 for me.

The Die Hard part sounds good but I do fear the american patriotism a bit. For us Europeans it always seems a bit strange and over the top.

I almost got passes to see an advanced screening of this today. Oh, well!

Between this and White House Down, I think I'd rather see the latter if I had to pick one to pay to see in theaters.

Have never watched this movie or its sequels. My brother brought them up and suggested them. I was surprised that only one has a 4K release, any chance the trilogy gets a 4K release anytime soon?

You can buy a set from Germany. The first one is a tough go PQ-wise, the 2nd gets a whole lot better.

I did compare the picture quality of the first one to the Blu-ray itself, and I’m happy to have it regardless of its issues.

Following the Taken pattern:

first film was the best one
second film sucked
third film a comeback and very good but not as good as the first one

I don't get the overt hate for the second one. It was quite fun actually, though it is indeed the least of the 3.

It wears its xenophobic themes on its sleeve. I liked it enough, but it was too much in that regard. There's a reason the original screenwriters were not asked to come back for the third one. They only got a "story by" credit and three new screenwriters adapted that.

I rank them: 1, 3, 2.

I remember reading that a box set would be unlikely because each film was released by a different studio.

I don't care what anyone says the second one is my favorite...I mean hell you could say the same about the first one being xenophobic. Somebody's got to be the villain. Best action scenes and I thought the third one felt cheaply made, like they cut the budget.

They actually do say that but London is on another level of xenophobic. Angel did get the budget slashed, but as it was mentioned, different studios, etc. Angel also had that badass scene in the woods with the claymoore mines and Nick Nolte -- that was mostly physical effects and whatnot.

OK, so they don't sugar coat the less than friendly relationship that the U.S. has with both North Korea and certain Middle Eastern countries... the feeling is mutual over there and they've been a threat to us in real life. I don't think either are taking jabs at civilians of those countries though. Just echoing the real life threats to the U.S..

I love absolutely everything about 1 & 2. 3 doesn’t strike the right chord because like you said - it felt cheaply made. Still definitely enjoy that one as well though.

I haven't watched London yet despite having seen both 1 and 3. Are there any plans for more movies in the series?
