Just thinking ...
• Maverick got 75 days in a row above $1 million (North America), only 5 short of Avatar.
• It should be in the top 3 spots for a while...next two months?
• Friday there's a possibility that it'll advance passed Avengers 3 (#6). If not, Saturday fo shure.
• Then it's the race to Black Panther (#5).

That's the poll result as of today, suggesting that Top Gun Maverick is potentially one of the greatest films of all time starring Tom Cruise. Is that true, or is a lot of it connected to nostalgia of the first Top Gun film?

I thought Tom Cruise was good in a number of films, but haven't seen this one yet. If it was in 3D, I would've checked it out in theaters. The trailers didn't lure me in though and reminded me of the first film. I thought the first film was okay and had some good jet action finally at the end.

Does it set itself up for a sequel?

Well, I certainly hope NOT! Top Gun Maverick ended on a perfect note with Tom flying into the sunset! I really hope they are not going to milk this like every other franchise (I'm looking at you Jurassic Park and Marvel)!

UK cinemas have scaled back Nope to only getting 50% of IMAX showing for it's second week of launch; so Top Gun: Maverick is back in the IMAX screens for the fourth time (so far).

The rule for Hollywood is that if the character is still alive (or brought back to life), then there is another movie waiting to cash in.

That's a fact; Hollywood is all about the cash register.

On other news ...

Maverick made over $1 million yesterday ($1,096,446) / domestic only.
For the weekend coming up (Aug. 19-21) it's estimated that it'll make close to $6 million.
In my calculation it should edge over Avengers 3 this coming Friday, after tomorrow.

And I don't see any stopping of reaching and surpassing Black Panther (99%).

What is harder to calculate is where it'll end up worldwide ... number 12, or number 11.
Because I'm an optimist I'd say #11

* This Maverick flick is unkillable.

Today is super hot here, 100°F in the shade.
I have zero interest to check it out in the sun; I'm shure it's 110°!
We are in a heat wave for few days, and perhaps more.

Maverick is in its 13th wave after tomorrow.
When it's hot, turn on the AC in your car and go watch Maverick this weekend under the theater's AC. ...All day. That way it might get to number one spot

, and make $2 billion.
