I don't get the people that don't understand why Maverick hasn't moved on since the first movie and how he changes in this one.

Two key scenes are the one with Ice and the "love scene" with Penny. Ice tells him he needs to let go, as his guilt over Goose's death has continued to crush him (I've heard some people say wasn't the point of the first film's climax that he moved past it, which I think is an oversimplification). But another big thing that I don't see a lot of people mention is Penny telling Mav how his relationship with her daughter got much better when she began to trust her and let her make her own mistakes (I'm paraphrasing as I don't remember it verbatim). Ultimately he realizes he needs to let go of his past and his guilt, and to not try and control Rooster and his destiny and let him succeed or fail on his own.

Of course it does, because the point of the movie is absolutely not that he is special and should be able to do whatever he wants. So if that's what is being stated it has everything to do with it.

You know what the funny thing is? That no one who loved or liked the movie says the shit you're suggesting.

It's trolls like you who resort to hyperbole and feel the need to turn everything into a 'fight.'

All it takes is to express one's criticism and skepticism in an intelligent and mature way, and people will respect any negative opinion.

But posts like this one reveal what you are... a banal troll.

Maverick was good, really good in fact, and a heck of a lot better than I expected it to be, but “one of the greatest movies ever made”? Nope.

It actually is one of the greatest made IMO, as long as you are okay with that designation going to sequels. Sorta like Rocky 2, dependent on Rocky but a classic on its own.
