I expect nothing less from a hard-core movigoer.

* Only two stars for Top Gun: Maverick; you must not have been thrilled to say the least.
How many stars for Morbius?

The "Ignore List" works very well. My experience when I visit this and other high-traffic threads.

You do know Avengers Endgame was Marvel right? Its number 15 on the adjusted list and number 2 on the non adjusted.

Let's face it, you can't handle the fact that the film will be the highest grossing movie of the year (until Avatar maybe) beating all the Marvel movies. So you feel the constant need to overrun this thread with BS on every page, with your new accomplice adding fuel to the fire.

Here's another record TGM is about to cross: $100m in global IMAX receipts.

Really hoping it will be coming back to IMAX soon here in the US.

I never understand why people are so fussed about movie box office numbers (apart from it helping the chances of potential sequel)? I could understand it if you’re some studio shareholder big shot, but most people aren’t, so I really do wonder what the point is about constantly going on about how much film X is making compared to film Y

It seems to be a strange thing where people need films that they like to do well at the box office while at the same time they seem happy when films they dislike fail. It's weird. I would like every film to do well because it gets more productions green lit and even if I hate a film I know how many people have worked tirelessly in so many departments on it.
Having said that, if I love a film and its a bomb, it means nothing to me. But some folk see a hit as justification when they like something.

I get threads like that, although it’s usually just the same two people going back and forth.

This is very true, but also, remember that theaters usually get an increasing percentage of the movie's take the longer that it stays in theaters.

And, with the extra money, the theaters can take some of that windfall and invest in upkeeping, maintenance, and sometimes even upgrading their equipment - new screens, projectors, seating, etc.

Thus, anyone who goes to the theaters regularly gets to benefit. Big hits like TGM can help subsidize the theater upkeep so that even movies like Marcel the Shell with Shoes On will be shown in auditoriums that are well-maintained.

As a result, we all benefit from movies that become huge hits.
